What drives you to play something like the BattleTech universe?

Most people here will say that they play the BattleTech universe because they've played it so long. I'm part of that too. But I guess I could say that what drives me to play BattleTech is the strategy: As long as you don't make too many mistakes, you can fight hard and efficiently.

I always find msyelf doing one more mission in MW games for the storyline of what would happen.. i enjoy all the strategy of the various simulated conflicts between the factions.. and i like to read all the news articles in the MW2 Mercenaries as well as all the other games..
Perhaps i am alone in this.. but i didnt read all of the novels because of stuff blowing up }: D ...
But i will say i just enjoy the universe and it gives me a great sense of nostalgia for when i was younger.

I'm mostly into the books now, and have been doing my own short stories and novellas for a while now, but the games are a nice way to dive into the nitty gritty awesomness that is a buch of armoured war machines kicking the poop outa each other!

Then, I got into MechWarrior 2 in 1996 and started playing on-line in 1997, and it wasn't exactly like I had always seen it, but it was pretty close, so I continued to play, and then from MW 3: PM on the only reason I played, anymore, was because it was giant stompy robots... the universe had been destroyed from by the younger community. Many of you already know the reasons, as I've laid them out in these forums plenty of times, so I won't beat that dead horse, anymore.
The reason I'm here is because I want to believe the developers are going to restore the seat-of-my-pants game-play, where teamwork, strategy, and tactics is equally important to how well some 12-year-old is able to fire his/her weapons accurately. I'm hoping and praying that the flavor of BattleTech, as it was originally supposed and written by Weisman and Babcock, will be seen here, again.

Not to mention that it's a game about giant robots blowing the **** out of each other, and the original version of the Battletech game was incredibly well balanced. Unfortunately, FASA added Star League and Clan Tech, and balance went out the window.
