Yeah itll never be good. But its not terrible either. Its a niche mech. It does what it does very well, but what it does aint much.

To be fair, people have done far better games than that in Locusts. A single game screenshot isn't really too much of an indicator of how good a mech is in general.

QFT.

I went 4/4/650 in my first match. Bad PUGs are bad. Proves nothing.

I haven't played one but I was able to outmaneuver three of them in Crimson Straight for about 3 minutes in a Commando. Eventually they killed me but I stripped most of the armor off all their legs before they did and held them up so that my team smashed their side and then came over to deal with them.

They are fast, but can't compete in speed with IS mechs. They basically need to hit and fade.

I can post up the rest of them to show a trend if you like.

It's only like my 3rd game with this variant but it's already proving good.

With clan weapons and the amount of speed it as, this mech is GOOD. Plain and simple.

A worthy addition. More to the point it's FUN. (See Sig)

My ferret can keep weapons even when they are blown off.

Surprisingly tanky, but meh firepower. I think I'll enjoy them, but they're not going to be competitive.

Meh firepower? Name 1 other mech that goes 143 KPH with max armor and has above a 40 firepower rating...

Wish I had your luck, had torso's blown off plenty of times and nothing like that lol.

Hahaha, I think what you meant to say is "I will never be good with it". This mech in the right hands is insane.

It's not luck. It's very high packetloss making the game nearly unplayable.

That damage happened while I was DC'd and when I rejoined it was like that. I wonder if it's reproducable... like DC have someone blow half your mech off, then rejoin and see if the weps are still there. Worth testing...

Weapons staying after the limb is blown off has happened to me several times, also arms staying attached despite destroyed side torso. So it's a bug that's been around for a while.

I'm enjoying its speed and agility, which is possibly why it doesn't feel like a Clan mech to me. It feels like a mix between a Cicada and a Vindicator.

Between the limited hardpoints, 9 tons of pod space, and only 12 base heat sinks, you're gonna run hot and/or you're not going to carry much firepower.

My 3 builds:

- (2) ER large lasers
- (4) small pulse lasers, ASRM+6
- large pulse laser, (2) ER medium lasers

Side note: Clan small pulse lasers actually seem like a viable alternative to medium lasers, due to the low heat.

This is very true; even the Nova benefits greatly. 6 damage for 2 heat is better than ISMLs, albeit at 165M.

3 SPLs and a ERPPC was fun.

I've had it happen before. I lost the side of my Dire Wolf and could see that those weapons were destroyed. I disconnected a minute later and rejoined. I had the missing arms worth of weapons back. I'm not sure if they were doing damage but they were producing heat. The next time someone raked their lasers across me it destroyed the section and weapons again.

Never tried to reproduce the bug though. I guess next time you lose some weapons run away, disconnect, and reconnect.

Tier 5 mech. Not fast or nimble enough, not enough hard points, no jump jets. I'd like to sell mine back please.

The "oversized engine" thing everyone throws around for every Clan 'Mech ever is getting old. Not everything needs to go seventy klicks an hour. Some of us like a little pep in our step, and the Ferret's quite refreshing in that regard.

Anemic hardpoints, though, I will totally get on board with. What I would not have given for the Viper, instead. I've been finding it very difficult to come up with effective fits for any of these things - not from lack of tonnage, but from sheer lack of things to DO with the tonnage it has.

Pack a single big gun on and give yourself one or two backup weapons

And by single big gun, I mean a cERPPC.

Play the range game and kite fatso mechs. You don't want to be in a brawl with this thing. It might be fast, but its not agile and you aren't going to do well up close. You're too big and too lightly armored.

However, its fast enough to kite anything bigger than it and tough enough to tangle with anything smaller than it.

With good aim, you can chase off any light mech (see if a Firestarter sticks around after you hit him in the leg twice with a cERPPC and a cSRM6), and even the mighty Timber Wolf will have a hard time running you down.

Its niche, and it struggles on small maps, but on Alpine/Tourmaline/Chrimson/Therma, its an extremely effective harrier platform.

That may be the case pre Mastery, but once mastered it is VERY agile. I'm having plenty of success in a flanker brawler role.

A similar thing happened to my Thunderwub last night. Two of my wubs were destroyed while wubbing, then I disco'd. When I reconnected my wubs were all back at full wub.

Then what exactly are you comparing it against? I think it's got plenty speed and feels very nimble for no JJ's

To each is their own I suppose

On the other hand, it's nice to not have people constantly telling you your engine is too small and get a bigger one. The speed inflation with IS mechs is out of hand.
