I feel like I'm the youngest person to have nostalgic experiences with MW2

But nobody around my age remembers these games (I'm 21, by the way). I guess it's because my generation was made up of 5-7 year olds back in 1995 when Mech 2 was big, and as a complex simulation game, it was probably too advanced for kids as young as I was. Not that it stopped me from playing it anyways. And no, I did not know how to play the game properly until I revisited it two years ago in college.
How old is everyone here? I'm guessing most of the people here, or at least those who played the old MechWarrior games back when they were new are in their late 20's or older. I'd love to meet someone from my own generation who played these games.

I was telling someone at work the other day about how stoked I am about MWO... In a sense, I've been a MechWarrior since I was 8. I grew up with this IP, read any books I could get my hands on, I've played every iteration of the franchise (not much of the TT though). It's been an important part of my entire life, really. Between me, my brother, and my sister, we'll have the whole 'sibko' in the field again come summer. Can't wait.

When I was a little older, I started playing with cheats on, and my tactic consisted of running into enemy Mechs while spamming every weapon in chain-fire mode. I didn't even bother to look at the mission objectives. I also remember avoiding torso control because it confused the hell out of me. And I never looked at the manual, either. It wasn't until I revisited the game in college that I decided (or rather, learned) to play it the way I was supposed to. And then, it turned out to be surprisingly easy. I beat both campaigns in less than a week.
Any of you guys tried reliving your childhood memories on modern computers? It is hard. Further exasperated for me since I am using a Mac. I ultimately had to use my old Windows XP desktop, which no longer works now. I guess I'll have my MW fix with MW4: Mercs and Living Legends on Boot Camp for now.

Boot Camp is a program that lets you install Windows on a Mac.
I also remember (sort of) MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries. It was included with a new computer that my mom bought in '96 or some time around that. Unfortunately, my mom rented out the basement to a guy who turned out to be a real dick (according to my mom, at least- he would do stuff like use her computer without permission and order Playboy on the family TV- the same TV meant for a child like me) and he did something on the computer one day that screwed it up so that it couldn't play Mercs anymore. But thanks to DosBox, I was able to make up for a missed childhood with that game a year ago.
It was also much harder than MechWarrior 2. I used up all my money on 'mech repairs and wasn't able to buy the heavier 'mechs required for later missions. (I guess it's because I'm just a crappy pilot)

I was 8-9 and at a friend's house. We were playing on his computer and he showed me a game he liked: Warcraft. I told my family about this cool game but couldn't remember the title. Now there were a few CD's that came with our then new computer and one of them happed to have war in the title. I figured this was the game and proceeded to try it out.
I have been a fan of Battletech/MechWarrior ever since.

And what happened with you and WarCraft?
