Hey all! Im back from a long break from MWO,and just casually playing so getting lots of mechs isnt really something I can do right now. I have already mastered the Cataphract and got all the basic for the highlander 733-c, and the Hunchback 4sp and cent-cn-al as well as working on that free cent, but my problem is= I like jump jets! Im just wondering what people would recommend as good skirmishing/brawling builds for mediums with jj. aand just to throw a monkey wrench in there- I am really not fond of/scared of XL engines and I prefer using energy or ballistic over missiles, If I think of anything Ill report back! and thanks in advance!

Griffin, Wolverine, Shadow Hawk... all are top tier IMO. A missile/energy brawling Griffin sounds like a good fit for you but if you prefer auto canons then I suppose a Shadow Hawk would serve you well.

Can get some build ideas here: mechspecs.com

and I've been loving this Griffin in particular: GRF 1N, especially since mine has a shiny 30% C-Bill boost :D

(Shadow Hawks tend to be clunkier as far as JJ capability and mobility)

The Wolverine 6R is absolutely ridiculous. Slap two AC5s, two SRM4s, an XL engine, and a laser in the head in this thing and just go to town. If you chain fire the AC5s they fire at the rate that AC2s used to for some absolutely ridonculous cockpit shake.

I picked up a Vindicator 1R because I liked the looks a lot and so far it's proving lots of fun to run, just tweaking the build as I go

Vindicators do a great job rolling damage - I own all three C-Bill variants. I recommend XLs for them, as your arms will consistently go before either of your side torsos, but you can get them to function with STDs as well.

Here's what I use in my 1R:

A very reliable support build, great for getting spot assists and racking up assists while still being a real contribution to the team. If you want to run it an a STD, a few minor changes and voila:

No TAG, replaced with a ML for zombie capability, and a half ton of LRM ammo is replaced with a JJ for more jump capability.

By the way, if you want a mobile Vindicator, go the route of the 1AA. Easily the most mobile of them, even if I personally only use it as a support mech, sticking it with a small XL225.

Hey guys! Just an update on the failry successful build I figured out for the 1aa, im on my phone so smurfy is priving hard to use/link but its:

Dhs
Endo steel,
Ferrofiberous
Max armour (less a point on each arm)

Std 270 engine
Ams w/ 1/2 ton ammo (couldnt find space for more)
Right arm- ppc, ml
Head-ml
Left arm-ml

And 5 jump jets in assorted places

Inagural run did 6 assists, 1 kill and over 200 damage, which is huge for me

I don't own a Vindicator, but I would like to advice you to use an XL engine. Vindicator is only 45 tons so in my opinion an STD is a big handicap.
This is what I would use:

I droped FF, added a second AMS and 2 tons of ammo. Also a few extra heatsinks.
But that's just my 2 cents. Good luck!
