How exactly do you intend to mount a 15-crit-slot Long Tom system in your mech without Crit-splitting?

Maybe he means Arrow IV, which are mech-mountable and relevant to the current timeline.

In a way you could assume we already have Long Toms, since those arty strikes have to come from somewhere.

Obviously you need to stack two mechs on top of each other, I propose we use urbies.

Some Toms are longer than others.

I wouldn't be against being able to call in an Arrow IV strike that was somehow differentiated from Arty/Airstrikes, but I don't think it needs to be mech-mountable.

Alternate munitions could be fun, but PGI hasn't quite gotten the LB10X, to work properly, much less allowing us to slot in different types of ammo.

Caseless ammo would be a game changer for a lot of mechs.

If PGI could get alternate ammo types working in MWO that'd be a dream come true for many players. The standard AC would suddenly come into its own, and the LBX series would be much improved (and the cAC placeholders would be able to be patched out).

That said, I'd be perfectly happy if PGI simply added Inferno SRM Launchers for now. Have them do half the damage of standard SRMs but apply a heat generation debuff to the target (stacking, but unable to push the mech past 90% like the current Flamer/Lava system).

Greetings all,

The responders are correct in the issue of too many slots for a single section, to mount the Arrow IV.
- Even with it many types of warheads, even in this timeline, it's still not been on the table at PGI for some time.

Smaller systems like the 'Sniper' or 'Thumper' might be a consideration, but most have replacement weapons that supersede these in 3050. Even the few Mech's that could carry the Arrow IV sacrifice quite a bit to mount it. Even the standard Cat carrying this system needed to wait for the C5 version to allow for enough ammo to be carried and become a viable chassis.

Until we get PGI involved in how such a system could be mounted, where all the slots are derived from, what sections are hit for a weapons strike, and how is the target selected at the ranges this weapon has, it's all basically moot.
- (any system that uses radius blast and damage is somewhat more difficult to calculate for many Mechs standing in the blast area, perhaps too much for PGI at this time.)
- 20 point and 10 radius damage, area weapon not target. 12 slots Clan, 15 slots IS.(Clans could mount it!)

Although I would love to get this system into play, the primary IS long range Mech weapon used at the beginning of the Clan invasion. As it was quick enough to operate with Mech forces and outranged any Clan systems for a few years.

I look forward to making my opponents "roast in their cockpit" due to ammo explosions. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Inferno_SRM
