A lot of people are talking about the bad behaviour during this weekend challenge.

Was I the only one who saw a lot of improved behaviour? Friendly fire and TK's happen every day of the year, but this challenge was the first time I ever saw people getting their 1 kill and 1 assist, then assessing whether they were winning or losing. If they were winning, they would let others get their kills.

I saw lots of people just announcing in team chat. "I got my kill. Gonna let you guys take the others". People legging and disarming mechs and then leaving them for the team. You almost never see anyone ignore a disarmed mech in the solo queue, but I saw plenty of people holding fire when they'd stripped their target of armour and prepared the kill.

To all the gentlemen (and ladies) out there, who were saving kills for their teammates in the solo queue:

I saw a lot of the sharing too. Especially on Sunday night as people finished up the challenge.

My last point match was one of my favourites, running my Locust 3M, our light lance to Terra Therma (conquest) ran the edges picking off 4 mechs, We shared the kills out among us while capping up a storm. Best pug light group ever.

I saw it in a few matches. Not as often as I would have liked, and maybe not as often as it should have happened if we were nicer people, but it was happening. One particularly brutal game ended up with 8 of us watching a LCT bravely finishing off a crippled AS7. We crippled the AS7, leaving it a stick with no CT armour and just stood in a circle watching this LCT blaze away with a SPL and MGs. More of an execution than a battlefield kill really.

I tried to let others get kills during the challenge. I tried helping them by taking the arms or leg of the Mechs they where battling. Or if there where DCs I let the team know so they could get their kill. :)

I only found this phenomenon twice. And even then, there was little acknowledgement of the courtesy.

Yep, I saw some of this. Once I got my kill I would usually go for crippling the enemy instead of killing, especially if I saw a bunch of my other team mates ganging up on the mech. Sometimes though if the match was close, or I was fearing for my own survival, I would just kill regardless.

I think I only announced that I got my kill one time, and I only saw other people announce it a hand full of times.

nope, but just last match one dude took the kill about 4 times in a row with the team focusing on each target. lulz such a pro. I don't even announce my intention, it's understood that when there's a reward for players to get just one kill, you don't take the damn kill when you already have one, just target other parts for points.

This was the norm in the group queue (however you spell that). In the singles I saw it 2-3 times. My drops had fairly respectable people.

It was a little like watching the momma lion leave injured prey for the baby so they could learn...lolz B)

I saw it a bit in solo... but you know what i saw more of?

A-holes who were actually piloting their rewarded VTR-9S(C)s and gunning for 3 and 4 kills.

That just ain't right.

Saw people offering the final kills once, the rest it was everyone screwing everyone else over for the point..kill stealing, killing team members who went for a kill, rage quitting, spamming hate in chat...usual stuff you get with these stupid challenges.

After I got one, I started legging and shaving only, and usually announced to the team. Still, have made a few mistakes, such as killing an Atlas while trying to disarm it (who the hell puts an XL in a D-DC!?), and was at times forced to kill a zombie in order to not be killed and lose my point. Have also learned that accidentally killing a light mech is entierly possible.

As for kill stealing, where do you draw the line? If I see an enemy Mech that is in battle with another Mech and is still capable of killing my team mates I feel I should help try and take them down! I'm not trying to steal kills, I'm trying to save the lives of team mates!

when the enemy team is 6 down, and your whole team is focusing fire on the last few mechs one by one, and the same idiot's name keeps popping up as the last shooter.

If you're trying to save a life, it's not kill stealing. If your teammate is at 90% and the target is at 30%, you're probably not worried about saving lives. It's not necessarily kill stealing, but it's certainly not altruism either.

I had several victories with multiple kills, because that was the only way to ensure victory. But if it's not necessary, just go hunting for limbs :)

Playing a light mech, I did have episodes where I spent minutes duelling with a bigger, isolated mech. Just as I prepare to deliver the killing blow, a friendly mech appears out of nowhere, parks himself directly in front of me (i.e. literally slows his mech down to stop in front of me) and takes the kill.

But I'm happy to say, most people behaved better during this challenge than what is normally the case.

I tried my level best to gimp and shave enemies whenever possible... BUT... did steal a few kills accidentally when forgetting to chainfire my WVR-6K's 3 LPLs and instead twitch-reacted and fired the alpha.

I also found - in the pug queue - that once people got their kill they just turtled so hard that I HAD to step up and take multiple kills, otherwise we'd have been overrun due to their cowardice.

In one game I 'accidentally' got 6 kills. I felt like such a a-hole. But I was cored and easy prey, I had to defend myself and badly damaged enemy mechs just came at me one by one (probably trying to take me down with them)!

I provided many easy kills during this competition; I was trying to level my Mist Lynx.

I saw this happen quite a lot actually, it was very nice.

I don't think you can blame or criticise anyone for playing on as normal killing as many enemies as possible, not everyone can be expected to even care about challenges and stuff.

I usually didn't have time to think about saving kills for others, also I was playing locusts all weekend so quite often i couldn't afford to leave people alive if there was a chance of them getting a shot off at me.

On the other hand I have bought and grinded 3 locusts to elite during the tournament, and thereby provided loads of kills for my enemies. :P

I saw sharing a dozen or so times. I always tried to ask in chat about who needed a kill, and I encouraged the other to let that person get it.

I only went for multiples when it was a close game, and I couldn't risk waiting for others to aim properly. Or if a mech was actively attacking me.

Games where I got my kill early and stopped killing usually ended up in a loss because there is no guarantee that your team mates have good aim or press R. Unless the enemy is completely disabled or is the last 2-3 left you are better off guaranteeing victory by killing things quickly.

There was a time where I stripped the CT armor from 3-4 mechs then backed off and no one on the team managed to kill them.

There are times though where I've managed to blow of the arms and a leg off a Ferret or some other mech that I know has no torso weapons and I've left half-dead Timberwolves alone. Letting them run with weapons though is usually not a good idea. Good players will back out from the front and continue to damage from cover.
