Hi all,

Not a new player but had a question come up so I thought I'd post it here.

I recently bought a stormcrow prime and took it for a quick spin this morning. It seems like a fun mech and I am looking forward to figuring out the best build on it for me.

That aside, I looked at my mech stats page after this morning's matches and was slightly confused. I played 2 matches, only in the Stormcrow Prime and I got 3 lines in the mech stats page looking as follows:

STORMCROW SCR-PRIME(I) 2 1 1 1 0 1 0 854 6,732 0:13:00
STORMCROW SCR-PRIME 2 1 1 1 0 1 0 854 6,732 0:13:00
STORMCROW SCR-PRIME(G) 2 1 1 1 0 1 0 854 6,732 0:13:00

Now, why would playing a single mech give me 3 mech lines? Furthermore, what is a Prime (I) and a Prime (G) version?

Thanks!

The (I) and (G) are special editions of the same variant. The (I) stands for Invasion - it's the 30% C-bill boost prime variant that people got with the original clan package. The (G) is the Gold version (the $500 ones with the gold camo pattern from the first Clan pack).

For some reason, even if you don't own those special variants, they'll show up on your stats page with the same stats as the standard variants. It's like that for everyone.

They are the same mech and so you get stats for all three, however the (I) is the pre-order one with Terminator hands and the G is the gold edition (which isn't anything more than 'gold' painted... it is just super expensive to be super rare.)

While 'gold' is typically the buyer's premium skin in most F2P games, in Battletech the leader [Khan] of a Clan is almost always riding a gold-plated mech. So there is a lore-basis and reasoning behind it. The price and concept was set by IGP, a publisher that has been sent packing. Hasn't changed the availability of it, but so far as we've been able to tell there will never be any more gold mechs after those.

Because it is related:

To date the pre-order designations are... (each has its own unique pattern and some unique geometry about them)
(F) Founder
(P) Phoenix (including Sabre Reinforcement pack)
(I) Invasion's two tiers + Wave II
(G) This one means you either love the game beyond feasible reasoning or have too much money. Probably both. Either way thanks for contributing, I can only hope it makes the game that much better.
® Resistance (still forth coming).

Following on Kon's post:
If you happen to see a Jenner-F(S), that's a special 'mech released in honor of a young mechwarrior who didn't make it to the clan invasion. Sales of that one-off raised a good chunk of money for cancer research, though.

Back to your original point though, it's been the thing that irritates me most about MWO: when they started releasing champion 'mechs, they would also show up on the stat page for a week or two, then go away. Ditto with the Phoenix designation. Then the (I) and (G) showed up & HAVEN'T GONE AWAY. Why would that irritate me, you ask? I had been using a rather nifty stat tracker called Mech Collect developed by another user which would download your stats after each match, so some maths, and report such fun info as your hit rate per weapon, damage by consumables, etc. And every time one of those sure-to-be-temporary stat lines would show up, there'd be a new line on the stat graphs (did I mention it graphed a number of stats over time? Man I miss that little java app) and no way to delete it when the web site stopped reporting it separately from the standard variant.

grrr
