I wanted to thank everyone who has commented and left feedback. I thought it was quite helpful and constructive and I was able to confidently jump into them.
I have been running the 000(L) version myself for 31 matches now and I have discovered a beast of a mech which is my new all-time favorite. As the person who started this thread I wanted to add my own review now that I have it.
My own thoughts and feedback.
I consider myself an average player with a penchant for the assaults, and the larger ones at that, so when I jumped into this mech I had some good experience to fall back on (I usually avg 1-3 kills and 400+ dmg per match in Banshees and other big assaults). That said, I was unprepared for how I have been able to completely take control of matches in this mech with avg 3-5 kills, and 500-600 dmg and with 7 of the 31 games with 6 or 7 kills and/or 1000+ dmg. To be honest, I am not sure why I have had this type of success but it is there. Furthermore, and most shockingly (although maybe it is due to just insane luck but possibly being able to control matches as I mentioned) my win/loss ratio on the mech is 26 wins/4 losses/1 tie.
On to thoughts on the mech:
I run an XL350... probably about 25-30% of the time I die to a side torso blowing. So
moderately XL safe, but not as much so as some others. However, despite personally coming from the no XLs in an assault school, I do consider it a positive trade-off as this mech is still very durable and more importantly, perhaps, the ultimate IS direct fire support assault so it is much more worthwhile in my eyes to us the tonnage for guns and ammo.
Arms seem to never get blown off (and I am trying to get them to go with lots of torso twisting!) and only do an OK but not good job shielding.
CT suffers a bit of Awesome-style big as a barn door issues as it is almost without fail the first part of the mech stripped of armor (running 109 front/15 back CT). Maybe I stare too much?
Torso rotation and speed are very good.
Legs, as with arms, seem to VERY rarely get knocked down/lost.
Main weakness seems to be standard assault issue of being swarmed or that one sneaky light/medium sitting on your six. Although when I have died it is almost always because I over-extended with a push not to the lights.
Other thoughts: Maybe because it is a new mech and still in fairly limited distribution, but while people will go after it, I notice that they still prioritize Direwolves, Atlai, Banshees and even Timberwolves over the King Crab. Which to my mind, I can kind of understand the Direwolves, but not the others. Also, on a related note, I notice that when I see another King Crab on the field, we both start prioritizing each other as the prime threat and, I'm sure, to see who is the top Crab. Not sure if this is a recognition of threat or just competition.
End Result:
KING CRAB KGC-000(L)
Matches: 31
Wins: 26
Loses: 4
W/L Ratio: 6.50
Kills: 61
Deaths: 16
K/D Ratio:3.81
Dmg Done: 17,327
XP Earned: 61,440

Yeah, I love my King Crab so much that I am considering switching factions to play it on Community Warfare.
Edited to fix stats as copy/paste made them display weird.
