I like camo specs as much as the next guy, but this system feels hollow after a while. So far, the only mention of decals was in a Dev Vlog. I'd love to put some decals on my mechs at some point. So with that said, is there any progress with decals and how they work?

I could have sworn I saw it mentioned in some sort of roadmap or other forum post.

Anyway, I seem to recall that they were planning on having decals ready soon, like very early 2015. But I don't know. Just bumping this thread because I want to know myself.

If I recall - Russ in the town hall said its in progress but wont be a big focus until Phase 2 of CW is out - which it now is. I think he said in a tweet somewhere that there is a version of it in internal testing right now or something...

I believe the decals have to do with the extension of loyalty rewards (decals, skins, colors, and more) that they were talking about which they needed to put some more coding into before they would be able to get it up and running.

While Cattra is correct, Russ has mentioned this, I really hope it's an extremely low priority.

So many gameplay issues that need addressing first, if they put out decals which will likely only worsen FPS, etc, before addressing the major bugs, upgrading their servers, etc, pretty sure both the player base and the servers would implode.

I hate the phrase, but decals are really a "first world problem" compared to nearly everything else right now.

I agree but I still want the decals asap. :) I hope some are for faction rank. I want to show off my mechs war hero status from the star map in the regular queue just before laying waste with my veteran skills!

FPS should be a top priority. It's making CW unplayable for a lot of people. That's bad.

But decals should not be an extremely low priority, IMO. The reason is that MWO needs rewards for people who are no longer interested in GXP, C-bills or cockpit items. It's like the most dedicated players who reach level 60 in MMOs and have all the epic loot and mounts they need. The devs need to keep those players interested or they'll just stop playing. And in MWO, the most dedicated players are a very important source of income.

I'm sure PGI will release some new package down the line that will get people excited again. Maybe Comstar will be the new equivalent of clans. Maybe they'll move the timeline to 3055 or 3060. But in between those major releases, PGI needs content and rewards that get the dedicated players excited.

There needs to be a really big carrot at the top for people who want loyalty rank 20 in Community Warfare. Mechbays, GXP and C-bills isn't enough.

I understand the point of end-game cash/CBill sinks, but I think right now even the vets can agree that making the game playable for people with less than extreme patience is of utmost priority.

I just know PGI can get overwhelmed by players asking for this, that and the other thing, and I think sometimes players forget that when we inundate them with this stuff, the important things, like the game working, can fall by the wayside.

I'd by all means love more visual customization for mechs, but I expect the first iteration of decals to be limited and boring anyway, so I really have no desire to see it take any time away from anything else, dev-wise. They only have so many people and resources, and they don't seem to like multi-tasking.(not trying to be mean, it's just a fact...PGI has admitted they only focus on one thing at a time...)
