Windowed Mode:

Mouse doesn't stay in the game, it will wander in and out, difficult to turn and fire when your click selects the desktop. Also, you can drag the game window around until you are able to pilot your mech, then holding click on the top bar just selects the window and you are now moving your upper torso, so the game window stays put where ever it is throughout that whole match, even if it is divided between your monitors... Also, when you are doing something else on another monitor when the queue pops a game, it instantly steals your pointer, but then doesn't keep it as you can drag right out of the window =P. Highly annoying.

Full Screen Mode:

After logging in and the game activates full screen, sometimes it gets stuck in an infinite loop of going between minimizing and attempting to grab the whole screen about twice a second. Blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, etc... alt+tab sometimes works, best to just ctrl+alt+delete, select task manager (higher system priority) then select the game on the task bar and it then usually loads up correctly. This uncommonly happens when the queue pops a game and it tries to load up which leads me to believe something in the program crashed. Sometimes this causes the whole game to simply crash to desktop the instant the queue pops a game. At any time after the game is full screen, attempting to minimize with alt+tab uncommonly works, usually have to force minimize with ctrl+alt+delete. Doing this too often will crash the game to desktop. When attempting to unminimize the game, I have about a 40% chance of getting the infinite loop. If I have a webpage open on the other monitor, every time the game goes full screen from a fresh game boot, unminimizing or queue pops a game, the other monitor seems to have a 33% chance of doing one of the following: (1) going completely black, (2) making only the window on the other monitor black, such as the web browser, or (3) not changing anything on the other monitor which is how it should be all the time...

The inconsistency of all these affects also points to crashing code. The fact that things DO sometimes work correctly says I have a good install of the game. Also, during anything MWO is being clunky about or crashing completely on, the rest of my computer and anything else I have running is working perfectly which means my computer and it's hardware is fine. The result is poor game coding. Considering the graphics engine and hitbox parameters don't coordinate and feels like I'm playing on the N64 in 2014 I'm not surprised. That was the #1 clue that corners where cut to get this game running. The game is a great idea, but very poor implementation from the UI, to the engine, to the code itself. If I were project lead, I would concentrate on stabilizing what you already have before implementing new things and making this task bigger and harder in the future. It's like being the process of tripping over your own shoe laces and at the same time grabbing to hold onto new breakable items that you don't want to break. Why would you do that?

For the sake of procedure, here's my specs:

64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (installed on 120 GB SSD).
Core i5 (socket 1156 next gen) 3.4GHz, 3.4GHz.
8 GB DDR3 RAM (I don't do a lot at once, just not my style).
ASUS P8 variant motherboard.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750Ti Driver 9.18.13.4475, updated last week.
MWO installed on 7200 RPM SATA 6GB/s HD on the same partition as the rest of my games.
Low bandwidth internet, but smooth 3 Mbps down, 5 Mbps up.

Gameengine isn´t optimized at all... They should hire some professional def to opimize the engine. The guys at star citizen did it also the right way and take a look at they work...

Sadly... I had less issues with my ATI Radeon HD6850 than I do with my Geforce GTX 660 Ti... and I meet or exceed system required specs for MWO. I've had more crashes with my Nvidia card playing MWO than my older ATI... which I'm tempted to put back in.

MWO needs to get optimized... code cleaned up... and more closed QA and public QA tested. I sincerely hope the 64bit MWO runs smoother on my PC than the current.

64bit isn't going to change un-optimized code.

Greetings all,

I run on 3 monitors with dual 560Ti SLI,
- I've set my game full screen size to just under what the 3 monitors are defaulted to (default size 5760 x 1080)
- The games at 3840 x 720 and runs great there.
If your game is set to a different screen size than default, with only 2 monitors, you will be having issues as you state.
(small note here: if the 2 monitors are at different resolutions/screen size the problem intensifies.)

Do you have these same problems if you do not have anything running on the second monitor?
Have you set up the Nvidia control panel for multi monitor use? Clone? Span? 3D settings?

Your mouse being 'pulled' to different screens can be 'turned off' from doing that.
- One of the 'snap to' settings

Just some suggestions,
Aim True and Run Cool,
9erRed

Sound advice, 9erRed. Unfortunately... I've determined these issues are related to MWO and not my PC. I've even tried going so far as to uninstall the drivers and registry entries for the GPU, removed the card, and reinstalled it accordingly with a fresh set of drivers. Still nothing... even cleaned out my PC ahead of it's normal cleaning schedule cause I hate dust lol :D

For MWO to be sponsored with a Nvidia splash page in the loading sequence would tell me that it's more optimized to use Nvidia vs ATI or otherwise... but again, sponsored... not fully supported in most cases. My dual monitor setup isn't the problem as I can run Farcry4, Battlefield4, and War Thunder without issue... just the random crash with MWO and DX11 not communicating effectively... oh, and I reinstalled DX11 and related software just in case.

I had a TI 650 boost with 2 gig ram. The biggest issues I had with that card were dropping often on mining colony which was fixed by the info a another player gave me in the forums. The other issue which was horrendous was in close proximity to other players and jumping over them I would often warp visually wise. That is I might be jumping over them or jump beside them suddenly my display would show me range 3000 away from the area and I could see nothing to fire or jump in the right direction.

The fix suggestion that Ryankamun II gave me and worked for my TI 650 boost was:
Open up NVIDIA Control Panel (from windows)
Manage 3D Settings
Program Settings
Select or add MechWarrior Online (mwoclient.exe)
Vertical Sync = Adaptive
Triple Buffering = On
One those settings seemed to fix my stability issues.
The above fix solved my 650 TI boost problems all but the jumping bug.

That said I upgraded my video card recently and I am loving the game better now. I got a AMD R9 in one the black Friday sales and it is Incredible for this game.

I still get the jumping warp visual problem but it is very rare now. Which indicates to me it is tied in somehow to the quality of the video cards out there.

Here is the fix I got which hasn't worked for me. Maybe it will help someone else.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the logs. We've narrowed this down to an issue specifically affecting NVIDIA GPU users. There are two potential fixes to the problem right now, but of course we hope to have this resolved for good in a future update, or if necessary, with the next NVIDIA driver release.
Fix 1: Perform a clean install of the latest drivers. To do this, download the driver set manually, and select the Custom install option. On the next screen, select the 'clean install' option.
Fix 2: Rollback your NVIDIA drivers to 340.52
Run through those and test as needed, in order, and let me know if you're able to knock out the freeze issue.

9erRed wanted to say thank you for the post. Reason is I have an older spare monitor and lately with the wait times in games I could haul it out, and use it outside of the game while I am waiting for matches.

I have something similar to this happening. I opened up a support ticket, since I can't play the game at all now...

Upon login and the game goes to full-screen, no GUI is present, I get only a black sceen, then it self-minimizes to the toolbar. I have confirmed the game is running, I can be seen online in-game, my friends can see me and invite me to groups.
Location: After login
Reproduction Rate: 100%
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load game and Login
2. Game goes to full-screen, no GUI is present, I get only a black sceen, then it self-minimizes to the toolbar.
3. Confirm with friends that I am successfully online in-game, my friends can see me and invite me to groups.
4. If I choose MWO from the toolbar or use Alt+Tab to re-maximize it I consistently get 1 of 2 results:
a. the game comes up as a fully black screen, no GUI, pauses for a moment then it self-minimizes to the toolbar again.
b. the game comes up as a fully black screen, no GUI, pauses for a moment then starts flickering between MWO and whatever other program might be open (doesn't matter what the app is - teamspeak, chrome, windows eplorer, whatever).
c. I have tried not having another app open - doesn't help, I just don't get the flickering result.

Troubleshooting completed:
1. I performed a clean install of the latest NVidia drivers - used the 'clean install' option per instructions above.
2. I ran the MWO file-compare troubleshooting tool - no errors were detected.

There is two driver files in Windows\System32 folder. Try to find and fix them.
hands.dll and brain.dll.

Wow - why do that LameoveR? I am new on the forums, honestly looking for help. I can't imagine why you need to be rude...

I'm unable to play a fav game, have already enlisted the help of several friends and no one has found the solution on my rig. The best you can do to suggest I'm needing to fix my hands and my brain? Nice.

Hello. I beg your pardon.
Try next steps.
Go to Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\USER\Shaders\Cache folder (where is you game installed).
And delete any folders there.
Open Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\USER\Profiles\YOURPROFILE folder
Edit file attributes.xml (you can do this with notepad.
Find line Posted Image
Change value to 1 or 0. Save file.
Try to start the game. Hope it will help.

Hey LameoveR!! That worked - thanks so much for the help!

I appreciate that my issue might have seemed trivial... Friends and I tried searching for the answer several times without luck. You have NO IDEA how many items on this forum have the terms "Full Windowed" and "Black screen" in them. ;) Or maybe you do... Heh. Either way - thanks for coming back with the real fix.

I get to MWO tonight, and I'm very happy about that.

It is really not a trivial issue, cause here is almost no information about how to fix it.
I'm glad to help.
