Just a shout out / story from the challenge last weekend. I know a lot of people claimed to see of shady play, but I saw nothing but normal etiquette and game skill for the 70 games I played.

We were playing Caldera, all going quite well. I was in my Firestarter causing havoc as was my duty. Kill after kill eluded me, till there was only one left. At this point we had 8 live players.

Fighting the second last mech I got legged - it was then that we discovered the last mech was a disconnect, at his spawn point.

I asked for the kill, as I needed it but I was the furthest away.

All 7 players proceeded to surround the disconnect and take him apart... But left his death till the poor light could limp into range. :)

From then on I asked that people consider others in stomp situation. More often than not, people received the request nicely. (I would note that I probably gave up near 10-15 kills myself. :P )

Word. i had the same experiances. often i was the first to get a kill in my d-dc, and from that point on, unless i was in mortal danger, i leg or otherwise cripple my targets. and there were a few games just like yours where people pooled the kills where they could. very sportsman like.

to all who did so, we salute you!

I honestly believe that many people who cry foul play are just foul at playing and cry. Like you, I never saw anything really out of the ordinary, perhaps a few more concerted efforts to steal kills, but whatever.
But anytime I'd read a thread concerning the challenge, it was rife with accusations of rampant tk's to secure kills. Kinda strange that in my 68 games I only saw one TK, and that was because I walked in front of a AC/40 Jaeger at the worst time in a Firestarter.

Been a part of this as well. A Jenner decided to shut down and stall the skirmish match with 8 minutes to go. We got the coords, and I found the Jenner. Asked who needed a kill and one guy said he did. The whole team swarmed towards me and I thought, "oh great, someones ganna snipe the kill from him..."
But it was much different. Everyone just kinda stood around and waited. The slow atlas chugged along, weaved through the wall of mechs, and one shot the Jenner. :D Success!

It was pretty neat to see that people weren't being jerks, and waited patiently so that someone could get a point.
It's a pretty minute thing, but man, it sure says a lot.

On the other hand, *normal* play is decried pretty quickly. If I get legged, my first instinct is to hit override and alpha like crazy. Well, that happened over the weekend. Suicided myself trying to finish my enemy - and then got immediately cursed out for denying them their precious, precious kill.

Eh well. Shoot betterer.
