All these threads about the Clans and how awesome their stuff is and how everyone wants it, etc, etc, etc.

I for one say meh to your Clan equipment! Give me the good ole days!

What is your favorite Star League era Mech and why?

Mine is the stock Nightstar... bloody nasty Mech.

95 tons
2 Gauss Rifles
1 ER PPC
2 Medium Pulse Lasers
1 Small Laser (gotta have the token small weapon)
3/5
18.5 tons of Armor

Sure.. its slow but who cares it has long range weapons which gives it more time to annihilate and the pulse lasers assist when those little buggers get close.

Oh and I did do a search and found no Star League threads like this.

I think mainly because there's not a lot of SL stuff around, and what there is is basically level 2 tech anyway. Given that the SL is in the past and most of us "live" in the game's present accounts for the apathy.

Give me that BLK-6-KNT.

And love the NSR.

Also dig on the Pillager/Emperor (XL coffins that they is), and the SLDF Mongoose.

There is so much confusion on the SLDF stuff. One mech introduced in the 2500-ish era will have standard stuff, 1x Large Laser 1x LRM-5, the next has ER PPC and Pulse Lasers and Streak SRM's.

So, in short, I don't know. I'd like to say the original Shadow Hawk, but again, the Star League era Shadow Hawk has no real special stuff on it. Same with my other favorite, the Orion.

A few fun beasts from the SL-era would be the Spartan or the Excalibur.

Speed and guns ;)

This one is a tossup.
I have 2 favorites that are SLDF specific.
1. Mercury - (the predecessor of the omni-mech)
2. Highlander - Not sure what it is about that mech, I just always loved it from the moment I saw it, even before I knew the name

Star league Tech was generaly a higher quailty even if it wanst an ER weapon It was still consider a supirror mech because of its design. in later years as the tech declined the desgins started to lose these better traits that made then suppior. I wasnt untill the finding of the star league memory core by the Grey Death Legion that alot of the suppior tech was restored.. So yea give me the good old day and all there cool toys

According to Lore 20 Spartans survived till 3058...
But other Mechs are not like the Lynx.
Very mobile Energy plattform with 15 DHS.
Pillager 100tons double gaus and enough ammo even for Dual Armor Combats
King Crab would be another Mechs in Comstar's Store's
Spector
Shootist
Kintaro

would be some Comstar Mechs around and maybe avaible as Comstar have some of them in Stock and sell even to the Drac's some.

Gotta say I'm with you on the Comstar mechs. The Shootist ranks up there with me. I'm looking forward to that. I even plan on changing my character to Comstar when that faction comes out.

I like the states on the King Crab but never played this in TT..Any idea how it faired...Heavy on ammo dependency for area denial but you cant have your AC20s and eat them too...(that just doesn't sound right)...
