This is a bit of a rant, but I would like to bring into question: Why are there periods in Community Warfare where you simply aren't allowed to play?

I am not a strong Battletech lore guy, so I am fairly removed from the role playing aspect of community warfare. I have this game because I am a gamer, and I absolutely love it's aesthetic and gameplay. Community Warfare, to me, is simply a game mode where I get to play four mechs in 30 minutes on a map far larger than Fail Colony, and often with both sides comprised of co-ordinated teams.

My time to play this game is limited, comes in bursts, and it is absolutely depressing to login only to have the game inform me I won't be able to play my favored game mode during my play window.

Is there an explaination for Ceasefire that is practical? Server maintenance? I'd like to hear it.

I expect it's got something to do with ensuring that the final match is finished before a planet changes hands.

If the switch was instantanious come the alloted time, how would a match which started 5 minutes before the changeover affect who controls the planet when it will end after the change.

It's no coincidence that a match is 30 mins and the ceasefire is 30 mins too.

Taking a break from the computer is a healthy thing for you anyway. It's all for the greater good ;)

I would say Xeraphale is correct. That said I find it silly. Planets should simply change hands when they are conquered, any ongoing battle when that happens could be immediately finalised or let it end normally but not affecting the planet's fate.

Its to clear the queue of all active games going on and to re-calculate planet take overs before calculating their attack lanes.

So basically, if you launch a game before the cease fire goes into effect, you can be sure that your game will count towards the planetary conquests.

This is exactly why. The 30 minute window is just there to allow all the matches to end, so the planet's status can be determined.

I get the mechanical reason why we have a ceasefire, but I still think we shouldn't have it. There are plenty of examples throughout history where a battle is fought to the close even though the politicians signed some sort of treaty hours, days, or even longer previously. :)
