Recon mechs are very desireble to have in your team due to equipment and speed.
Recon, support, they can save a lot of mechs.

Not sure what they will need, until things start to get played out. I for one can not wait to get in the Jenner and start harassing the bigger mechs, and taking the bases behind them.

maybe some unique sensor pacages for light mechs could be a solution i.e sensor range as well as advanced info like tonnage main weapons ect.. vary the diffrent vision modes to ir ii and sat vision, just food for thought

maybe make light mechs sensor blind i.e cant see light mechs using ecm upgrades unless you also have ecm upgrades, equipe an ac2 and it would be a nightmare for heavy mechs or a ppc i.e panther ,ecm pacages would be based on tonnage so light mechs could pay a base low cost due to their small size say1 tonne as say an atlas would pay 10 tonns for the same priv this should disway gun pigs from taking a light mech too lightly and would greatly increase their usability on the battlefield, a good long range light mech is both fast and agile with good gunnery you could tie up a much bigger apponant allowing all sorts of tactical options, assault mechs could even be disallowed access to ecm due to thier immense size,.

It will be more team dependant. It will be fun to pilot a scout with a team that plays more of a taunting chess match. Groups that charge straight in and tend to waste their scouts efforts not so much.

WoT handles the issue of scouts in a really cool way (although many aspects of the game are dumb) in that if you spot for allies and they damage a target you get exp for doing it..... as a matter of fact you get half of their experience.

The devs have already stated you will get xp for just lighting up enemies (dont know if that is a first time bonus like WoT or an xp over time thing).

Scouts will be extremely important for making your catapults and other mechs with LRMs fire more accurately either by use of TAG or NARC.

NARC and TAG are good reasons to have scout mechs. Base capping, enemy harassment, and who knows what else with the modules and equipment.

Also scouts tend to be fast, really really fast.

Who says these might be undesirable?

its not my personal flavour but many people like scouting and hit and run tactics...

Well, I should of said it a little different, I really was wondering what the players wanted to see in recon mechs so maybe the devs would read it and something may spark their interest. Recon mechs can be critical to the battle and I haven't read very much about how they will be implemented in MWO.

I really want to see dedicated recon mechs and not just light mechs which you can throw some equipment on. Going with the time frame in this game there are a few options but mainly the Raven stands out.

I posted a suggestion about Accolades\Medal awards each match which included providing special awards tailored to recon mechs. Spotting, Assists for mech damage\kills from your targeting data. Succesfully doing these things multiple times a match 'ranked up' your award (bronze, to silver, to gold etc.) with a commensurate increase in the value of xp/c-bill bounty gained.

Add to that assists vs larger opponents (lets call it the Goliath Down award). :)

Forgot link.

Been a scout pilot since the first computer based multi-player mechwarrior games came out. Anytime you have a team that works as a unit scout units are valuable and useful. I do not understand why there has to be a reward system for using a tool for its intended purpose.

Any team worth its salt is going to have a place for light mech pilots and they always have. The reward for using any tool well as a craftsman is that people desire your skill set. Then again I like a challenge and I have bagged more than a few assualt and heavy mechs with my Raven over the years.

I think it's more a reward for working as a member of a team rather than simply loading out a heavy laser boat and trying to down everything by yourself, and I support being rewarded for assists and tactical support, the 'kill shot' has always gotten far to much credit in games past, it's about time people got credit for building up to that point.
