Well since we are getting MASC I think that we should get the Cataphract 3L.

Its like the 3D but instead of Hover-Jets we get cool new MASC.

And should not need a new model since its laid out pretty much like the 1X.

Here are my reasons why: It would be nice to have some more MASC and the Cataphract does need some more variants that are special 1X laser vomit 2X actually kinda unique compared to the 1X 3D Hover-Jets otherwise pretty great 4X pretty much a 4x AC/5 or AC/2 cheese mech

(Sorry if i do not post much. Oh and here is a link:http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Cataphract#CTF-3L)

I would prefer MASC just be available to all mechs.

Well, I don't know, Cataphract ia a pretty OP mech, we'll probably need to remove some quirks if we're going to give it MASC.

Is there no Super-phract with JJs, ECM and MASC?

I really don't feel like grinding out all of these variants you guys keep proposing! :P

Something to be noted is that the Right Arm of the CTF-3L lacks the Lower Arm Actuator (it's critical slots are filled with the Shoulder Actuator, Upper Arm Actuator, two Double Heat Sinks, an ER-PPC, and a Medium Pulse Laser), so it would have the same reduced arm movement as the Yen Lo Wang and VTR-9B (among others).

If PGI makes MASC access unique to variants (much as Jump Jet access is currently so), then it creates a more-tangible trade-off between the 3L and the 1X (which have identical minimum hardpoint requirements & identical starting Engine ratings) - the 3L would have access to MASC but reduced arm range-of-motion (which would adversely affect its ability to track faster targets) while the 1X would be better able to track faster targets (e.g. small Light 'Mechs) but would lack access to MASC.

PGI has already stated this will be an option like Jump Jets, ECM, AMS, whatever.

Also, the game / hsr will break pretty hard if a mech goes over 172kph, meaning a mech with MASC can't have a potential max speed greater than 129kph including Speed Tweak, OR, have a 'smart filter' locking it if the mechs normal speed would be greater than that.

This means having it available to 'all', would still need to be pretty heavily restricted.
This way is far easier for them to do.

I agree, we need this mech in the game. I need to be able to run around with MASC!

Adding it into the game wouldn't require much messing with. It already has two disadvantages, having no Jump-Jets and no lower-arm actuator In the right arm.

And that doesn't include the disadvantages that the other CTF's have. This includes:
Huge hitboxes, very VERY low arms, mediocre quirks across the board (What I mean by this is, none of them have quirks that would make you decide to buy a CTF over any of the other heavy mechs).

Also, sorry for resurrecting this thread. :P

MASC would need to be significantly buffed to make this at all interesting. And I say that as someone who owns and plays all the CTF variants.

Yeah four crits and four tons is a hard sell, For not a really big improvement. But you are right if it gets buffed it will be awesome.
