I haven't read all the answers, but a rather important one financially for PGI is the fact that Clan mechs take up less space (ie. mech bays). If you want to max out an IS mech, you need to buy 3 of them. When you are done, generally you have different loadouts that work for the different models of said mech. Many folks end up keeping all three even after they are maxed.

You need 3 Clan mechs to max out the skill tree for that chassis, as well. After you get one maxed out, however, you can strip the omnipods off the other two and sell those chassis', thereby freeing up 2 mech bays that you can use for other mechs. You retain the flexibility that the 3 IS mechs give you while only taking up the one spot. Less mech bays purchased, less cash for PGI.

All but two of the non-MC Arctic Cheetah variants suffer from the same problem.

True, but once you've banked the omnipods from the Cheetah, those disadvantages just slip away.

because they come with all upgrades pre installed.

with an is mech expect to spend 2-5 million in addition to the cost of the chassis on upgrades and equipment.

I just blew 14,000,000 cbills getting my TDR firepower, Endo, DHS, new engine. Isn't that nearly as much as a madcat?

Timber's start at 16,000,000 C-bills...so TDR still 2M cheaper

IS mechs are typically just as expensive to load out vs Clan but what really matters, IS mechs are WAY cheaper to Master.

Clans are WAY too expensive since you require 3 variants to level.

Simple answer.

Built in Clan XL engines and some have high priced weapons on, along with Ferro and/or Endo upgrades built in on some.

Thats the 'reasoning' for it, anyway.

Based on TT prices so clan mechs are more expensive PGI adjusted them down a bit from TT but they are still more expensive.

IS mechs cost 1.5 million more for DHS and 100k-1 mill more for endo steel. Having spare XL engines is a luxury and not a requirement to run IS mechs. I had 1, 300XL engine for the longest time with about 15 mechs sharing it, but IS defenders will always claim they NEED to buy XL engines for ALL their mechs tossing another 5 million Cbills onto their price tags.

The prices of Clan (at least omnis) is bloated heavily by having a fixed non-swappable therefore much less useful XL. For instance look at the Orion M, 10.7m cbills for DHS and an XL engine while the Summoner P is 14m for an XL engine and DHS and FF. Difference being that Orions XL engine is incredibly useful for running other IS mechs while the Summoners engine isn't going to help any of my other clan mechs in the slightest but it costs another 3 million cbills to obtain.

Cost of Omnis needs to more accurately reflect the less useful nature of the equipment they mount (and hell having FF but not endo should incur a cost DECREASE)

Or maybe PGI needs to start charging for quirks.. after all if PGI is going to make things equal to clan tech with nerfs and monster quirks there needs to be cost equalization and quirks shouldn't be free at that point

I wouldn't mind paying even more for Clan mechs if I can buy some of the quirks that I.S. mechs have.

Here we go again...

"I want to fight for the American side but these M1 Abrams tanks are so expensive!
I can get a bunch of T55's for the price of a single Abrams!"

It's (supposed to be) better by a landslide, therefore way more expensive.

It's not even based on TT prices, it's based on the total cost of all items on the mech, added up.

Hence why you don't have a 24 Mil Atlas K or Dire Whale, because the XL costs considerably less.
