Credit for this workup goes directly to firefox117, without his donation of time to fix the issue for himself this fix would not be known out right.

US military members that regularly use APO/FPO addresses on file with your American credit cards from a deployed country/non-U.S. soil that are having issues making your purchase may have to complete the following steps:

1. Contact Ultimatepay/Playspan customer service at customersupport@ultimatepay.com or alternately open a ticket at thier website with your issue on purchasing.

2. Explain that you are a military member stationed overseas and require a blanket security clearance.

3. This requires that you submit supporting documentation to thier website in the form of the following:
(You may not need to provide all these items depending on the support technician)
  • Digital copy of your orders to current location
  • A scan of your DoD ID Card
  • Proof Of Military Service Form
4. After you've supplied the required documentation they clear your account to be able to make a purchase(I used paypal and directed it to charge from my credit card on file).

5. They suggest 24 - 48 hrs but I tried it right away and it worked.

Wow, I'm glad you posted this. As someone who tests credit card processing systems, I find it hard to imagine that this issue is caused by the credit card processors (the middlemen between the payment processor and the card issuer).

So this makes me wonder why on earth Ultimatepay/Playspan would impose such "security" measures, and how do other credit card processors handle people with APO/FPO addresses?

I'm having the same issue, and stumbled across this thread after e-mailing support@mwomercs.com... oops.

As far as I know, adding AA/AE/AP to the billing form's State drop-down should avoid the issue entirely.

Also, the above 'security' measures are less than ideal because 1) Not everyone using an FPO/APO address is actually in the military (plenty of dependents, government workers, and contractors like myself) and 2) I'm pretty sure we're not supposed to just give out scanned copies of our CACs to anyone that asks.

Any update on this info? CAC & ID cards are unauthorized to be copied, and as a civilian overseas, I have no orders or military service form (anymore). I have no problems making purchases anywhere else but here apparently.

I don't feel comfortable sending too much info to clear this up.. since it shouldn't be an issue to begin with.

Another chime in on the military ID copy request being illegal, highly recommend going with the copy of your current orders method. It can be obtained from whatever website your service uses for electronic service records, mine being navy, is https://nsips.nmci.n...o/jsp/index.jsp . Bupers online also had a way to pull them up, unsure if it still works.

On a side note, why not just use paypal? Saves you from having to jump through all these hoops. :)

Note for those curious enough to click it, that link takes you to a CAC login, if you don't have a reader, the certificates and a card, it won't work.

A scan of your DoD ID Card
You cannot do this. If any NGO is asking for anything like this you need to report it up. If it's a problem just get JAG or your service equiv. to do up a letter.

Human Resources monkey, seconding this.

Never send a scan of your CAC (or homophone thereof) to anyone.

My response via the pay site:

-Your payment information is incorrect
-You are sending your payment behind a proxy
-Your billing information does not match the information logged on your order
-You are located too far from your billing address

The software they are using will not accept APO/FPO addresses, so it is pretty much useless trying to shoehorn it in. Something isn't going to jive, and it will not go through. Each of the above issues stems from the software shortcomings or the nature of living overseas. Never had a problem until now.. seems a bit inflexible to me.

I don't have a PayPal account, and would like to keep it that way.. but it seems I may have to go that route.

Received a mail today that I can scan and send my driver's license as proof as to who I am, but being overseas for over 20 years, that's not an option anymore.

PayPal it is..

Never had this hard of a time trying to give away money..lol..

I can't even do that, My Paypal shows that the transaction was cancelled on their end. I live in Alabama and my card is registered to my current address. Additionally, I've purchased MC before with no problems. Now all of a sudden I can't process an order either by card or Paypal (which uses my card) through them.

Works for everyone else though...

Paypal also requires proof of identity. I use my credit card with no issues on a near daily basis. MWO needs to fix their methods of payments or lose money.
