Hey there, was just wondering if it could be possible at some point for us to somehow permanently link multiple accounts as belonging to one user, and then possibly transfer items to the 2nd account?
Logisitically, is that even doable?
I ask because, as a financial supporter of MWO, I've bought every top tier pack to date (except Founders, since I wasn't working at the time, and couldn't afford to), and find myself owning all sorts of Clan mechs that I've payed real money for, but as a Davion Loyalist, will never play.
I created a F2P Clan alt account, to try things out on the "other side", and do find I enjoy the Clans as a diversion from time to time, but not enough to break contract and jump ship. If I'd thought about it before I'd purchased the first two Clan waves, I'd have purchased them on that 2nd account, but I didn't.
If we aren't going to be able to set up 2nd "characters" on existing accounts, I think it would be real cool if I could link my Clan account to my I.S. account somehow, and then possibly through a CSR, transfer all my Clan specific content to the 2nd account (mechs, colors, camo patterns, cockpit items, etc).
I'm sure I can't be the only player with this situation either, and I wonder if being able to easily maintain separate Clan and IS characters might help stabilize CW populations? (possibly wishful thinking on my part).
Anyhow, I'd really, really like to see this feature, or something like it, be available. Or, if not this, like I mentioned, 2nd "pilot characters" on our existing accounts would be fantastic.
Thanks.
Cheers!

That's actually a great idea... Linked accounts make tracking multiple accounts from the same player easy, and would help disuade cheaters from setting up multiple accounts.
Switching gear from accounts would greatly enhance farming though.. imagine that there's a week-long challenge and you have nothing to do, and at the end of a challenge, you get a free mech.. so great, create 5 accounts, win 5 mechs, transfer all of them to a single account, sell 4 off and you are rich... and OP..
So.. you know... mixed blessing..
Also, I would like to be able to send equipment, mechs, c-bills and MC to other players... this way, you could for instance go into a trial of grievance and put down the pink slip to your mech... you lose.. you actually CAN give your mech to the winner..

I could see that being a bit of an exploitable issue, but perhaps if they limited it to 2 accounts linked max?
Also, I think there would need to be a way to make the linking more or less permanent to reduce the chances of people trying to resell unique content, like Phoenix mechs and the like.
I really like your idea for Honor duels and such though, so maybe there could be a way to put equipment on the line down the road or something? Maybe open exchange of any gear that is purchasable with C-bills or something, to keep from breaking the MC/Real Money economy?

In the past they have said that they are unlikely to introduce any form of trading as it it leads to exploits as mentioned but also creates and undesirable side trade in account hacking/stealing and people farming and selling stuff online.
Whilst I can see a lot of good uses for trading, the undesirable denizens of the internet make having responsible fun impossible.
Try contacting support. They have manually injected and removed stuff from peoples accounts before. They might be able to help you on a once off basis.

The way I see it... PGI screwed all of us who actually backed this game and paid money for these packs/mechs. First it's IS mechs then the Clans come out. With alternating packs back and forth between the two.
Low and behold CW comes out. Guess what....everyone purchased these packs on one account. SPENT REAL MONEY all on one account. Now guess what.... PGI doesn't implement a side selection in CW where you use one account and choose if you want to play IS or Clan.
What is that from PGI? a big @#$@ U guy's and gal's thank's for your money.
I haven't touched this game since the announcement came out pre CW about how they were handling this.
Something needs to be done with selections that's for sure and contacting support to have all IS content moved to a separate account while you loose anything you have done to those mechs (skills, weapons, etc) is unacceptable. Which is putting it nicely.
Had I known this is the route they were going to take when I had the option to become a founder. I would have never put one cent into this game. All they did was take a hot steamy $@$@ on us who backed the game and kept them affloat.

Yeah, it's all the stuff that you've mentioned that makes me worry about how people would try to game such a system. The only way I could think of to work around that was the forced permanent linking, but even then, I'm sure people would come up with something.
Still though, it would sure be nice.
Do you think it would even be possible to have support migrate all my Clan content to my alt account? Hadn't occurred to me to try that route. Thanks for the suggestion!

Why can't you just have seperate accounts, and each earn what you have?
There is not a single F2P game (and I cant think of a single P2P one) that allows for shared equpiment, and shared accounts.
Sorry, no. Pointless, and would only encourage bots/trolls/sellers.

So, not sure if my original post was clear, but the point is that I own, on my Main account...every top tier mech package released since Phoenix, both Inner Sphere, and Clan.
Because we don't have the option to have two "characters" (one Clan, and one I.S.) in this game currently (which would actually be my preference), a feature available in many online games, F2P or otherwise, I would like to have some option allowing me to transfer my Clan equipment to my 2nd account, rather than sit unused on my first one.
I'm simply suggesting that there be a way to do so is all.
My suggestion for permanently linking the two accounts, was one idea I had that could hopefully curtail bots/trolls/sellers, but if there were other ways to do so, while allowing equipment to shift over, I'd be open to the idea, I simply want a way to be a Davion Loyalist on one account (or character if that becomes an option), and a Ghost Bear Loyalist on the other, and, play all the mechs that I've spent hundreds of dollars on between the two.
I do see how bots/trolls/sellers are a problem in most online games, so I absolutely agree that there should be some way to keep tabs on that situation, but I do feel my request is far from pointless, and I have to imagine there are others out there who would agree.
Anyhow, hope that clarifies for you.
Cheers!

Rip, I agree with you. I am a founder and have clan mech's that I never Play. I run Lone wolf But lean hard toward Davion .It would Be so much nicer to be able to move my clan equipment to a second account PGI really put the screws to all of us on this CW thing.
