There were a number of mentions of how the new map is now AC and SRM friendly and less so to LRMs. I find this a little troubling. LRMS love them hate them as you wish but they are the main defense against the multiple AC and Gauss builds. PGI should be very careful -- please tune and tweak do not not slash and burn Devs.

I feel that if the map redux becomes so specific you may see a lot of pilots who will disconnect at the game start out of disgust with that map. I know there are times when I have gotten the same map so many times in a row that I have been tempted to just drop. This will also lead to more calls to allow pilots to not only pick the type of match but the map as well so the correct Mech can be selected.

Now if the focus is to do that then fine but please remember that new players have a steep learning curve and if the games are tuned to just veteran players the new player base will dry up quick.

The new layout is beautiful and being able to blow stuff up is always a plus so GOOD job Devs give you selves a round of applause and take a bow. 7 :)

Maybe if there becomes a point where there's enough maps that are unfriendly to LRMs, you might *gasp* have to decide to run a more balanced build? Rocket science! (no, "long range missile science". PGI could never balance Battletech rocket launchers...)

Ok so you hate LRMs no biggy, how ever my stated concern was and is the retention of new players. No new players and MWO dies on the vine. LRM use by new players is part of the leaning curve. This is why after quite a bit of time the Devs added an ECM mech to the trail rotation if you hadn't noticed. That was to allow new players the chance to feel they were at least on par with the veteran players. The more times a new players gets pounded to the ground whither it be from AC, SRM, Gauss and Yes LRMs; people quit. The game has got to stay fun for newbees or we all lose.
