I Haven't gotten one yet, but I've only done 40. I still haven't decided if I'm going to check the assault mode box yet.

I stand corrected. Still, they aren't particularly expensive to begin with.

You can play for free. What's so expensive about that? Yes I donated $10 and got Sarah's Jenner, and over 4 paychecks spend $80 for Overlord, but I've only bought the $20 MC pack ($15/$25 whatever it is). Everything else I've bought with C-bills or free MC (events etc). I was around for the free Coconut Monkey and the PC Gamer colors (virtually identical to the Phoenix colors), but other than that all free.

MWO prices are high because their fan base was already established since the 80's with tabletop wargaming.

Just about all tabletop games are expensive as ****, so convincing hardcore fans you've had for over a decade to buy digital versions of robots at about 1/3 the price they paid for the pewter ones isn't too difficult.

This game has some serious whales in it, myself included. I still get every pack and haven't played seriously in over a year.

Gotta catch em' all! ^_^ :(

Price model in MWO has been obscene from the get go (Late closed beta?). Basically its been a long running exploitation of battletech fans, Cause every single damn one of them knows that thanks to the damage done over the years to the franchise (Microsoft, WizKids and CONSTANT meddling of Harmony Gold) essentially means that MWO is the last chance for them to play a mechwarrior game in the foreseeable future. I can confidently say that when PGI finally lets go of the MWO License I will probably die of heart failure, stroke, stabbed by wife or all of the above before another mechwarrior game makes it to the market.

Ironically paints are pretty much the best thing to waste cash on simply because you can use them pretty much on any mech. While the cooler and more expensive Cameo unlocks only work on the chassy you bought them for AND wont work on hero mech versions (and equivalent types - that part still annoys me more than the high prices, Invader mechs have terrible camo.)

Would I suggest playing MWO on a tight budget? Sure, if you have the time to grind and get DEFILED for awhile you can still have fun (eventually). Would I suggest putting cash into MWO for any reason when your on a tight budget? Hell no. Save your money for Fallout 4, Mass Effect: Andromeda or a better PC so you can run ARK: Survival Evolved. (Seriously, you need a beast for that thing.)

I don't see any problem with prices. I've never considered them any higher than other FTP games. The only things that are significantly overpriced are Standard mech variants, and those are also justified because it's not the way you're meant to acquire them in the first place. You basically buying yourself out of playing the game and obtaining the C-Bill value to do the same purchase. If you feel it worth the spending, then you're not in position to argue about it.

Mechbays, Colors, Camo-Patterns and Premium Time, all have reasonable prices. In fact, active participation in the Community Warfare and various Events, which now are held on a regular basis can provide you with decent amount of MCs, enough to paint most of your mechs in single-use camos and occassionaly expanding your mech collection. Hero mechs and Champions are less related to their MC price, and more differentiated by their actual efficiency. You'll have to decide yourself whether or not a given Hero worth the price or not, just like with Standard variants obtained by C-Bills.

Long story short, the only reason to consider stuff in MWO too expensive is either ones inability (or unwillingness) to participate in the game in any considerable degree, or lack of understanding for underlying, but evident mechanics of MC functional (one-shot/unlock differences, sales, etc.). So, either you want free stuff undeserved, or you simply do not understand what is an actual value of MC is.

I wish i could use my wave 2 faction camos on my wave 1 clan mechs

it would cost me (8x1500) 12000 MC just to get 1/4 of the camos for my wave 1 clan mechs. While for wave 2 they were essentially free with the bundle.

INSANE.

They were supposed to be retroactive, wave 2 working on wave 1 but they scrapped that idea.

Lol... pretty pretty mech...Nice target!!! I have never ever payed MC to get "color" for my m3chs. Imo, it's a waste of precious MC and does NOTHING to the ability of said mech. I have been tempted to use MC on several occasions to "paint" my m3chs but good reasoning always prevails and I dont.

Even the hero mechs I own, I change the pattern to just plain no frill. Take the lo wang for example. When I first got the wang, every mech with a weapon seems to be targeting me from the get go... when I changed it to look like any other centurion, I didn't get messed up as much. Point is, wildly, brightly colored mech, imo, is a sign saying shoot me first and I'm sure a lot of you mech pilots out there like shooting the pretty mechs first, aware of it or not.

And btw, mech bays does go on sale... 150MC
I think they are having a sale on bays this weekend (haven't really read the event yet so go check) but for sure, they were 50% off last weekend cause I got a dozen bays at half price last week.

Also, it took me awhile when I started playing this game to realize that I needed to be patient and wait for the sale... save a ton of MC that way...

Hope this helps...

Honestly... how can you even say a FTP game is over priced. Like i said before... i played, paid only games for years at the cost of 15 bucks a month. i enjoyed them. Over the years it cost me 1000's of dollars, Heck internet had a monthly hourly rate, so just being able to log into play diablo was a bit of a cost. So far I paid about 100 bucks for this game, and been playing for 2+ years... crap, i played STO online, and paid 150 bucks for a life long pass and i have played this game much more over the last 5 years.

How anyone could say this game is over priced is just beyond me.... and no, im not a fan boy,,, only a gamer that has been playing games since pong. Gaming by far is cheaper than it ever has been in my life time.
