So they can be capped again. ANd so defenseless mechs cannot use them as free guns.

DOn't get me wrong, its smart to do it but there is complaining...

They should place a Tank as guard near a base - maybe it can move around a bit wth a basic AI.

Only if he's the last one left and he doesn't cap before the timer expires. Bonus if he's an LRM DDC.

Hmm.. We had alot of base capping before. I don't see any benefit to be honest.

Infantery, tanks and small mechs would be great.

But the turrets are laughable. I don't think PGI is capeable of it. Could be wrong, but don't you need a complex AI for it? Or perhaps it's already in build in the engine.

People can't protect their assets because they get tunnel vision and have to kill that other mech and forget to think and protect the base? Then they loose too fast and don't amass enough C-bills because base caps don't pay.

Then they post on message boards how it's sooooo stupid, and the devloper caves to the pressure.

yet the fact remains assault was less bad after they added turrets

IMO they shouldve combined assault and conquest into one game mode. Have bases that need defending as well as 3 capturable resource nodes.

That combined gamemode fixes most of the flaws with both assault and conquest. It gives all weight classes something to do. And having multiple ways to win makes it much more strategic (win by getting to 500 resources first, capping the enemy base, or destroying the enemy team).
