Yes - Like the new upgrade River City map, the new Forest Colony upgrade map is equally excellent.

I had the pleasure of fighting many battles there yesterday, and the quality of the battles improved throughout the day, as the players began to know their way around. The last ten battles there were truly fantastic, at times rivaling some of the best I've seen in CW.

It actually feels like a forest now... and the jumping light mechs especially have got to be loving this place.

I found the water mist effect to be especially outstanding.

Credit given where credit is due, PGI you have again produced some very fine work. These new maps are a vast improvement, and I am looking forward to seeing more of this in the future.

Congratulations for an exceptional performance!

I know a lot of people were complaining about visibility. But it felt more realistic in the sense of "Chaos of the Battlefield." My first battle was just a mad scramble and people were milling around from both sides. It almost felt a little claustrophobic. Which I guess most people wouldn't want. But I imagine that would happen in a real battle.

Yes, and a lot of that is unfamiliarity with the terrain - I did notice the matches improving as people got to know the terrain better.

Part of what I like is how the battles are occurring on different parts of the map - there is enough space and variability there for quite a variety of tactics.

The map is great, there is just that one area where bushes and small trees block so many visibility that ecm mechs get true stealth, this makes ecm too powerful, at some places. But the area is too big for Heta or nightvision to work properly.

wot kills this beauty map is night vision. I think, it needs nerf. all people just switch it on , and thats it. Why not disable it, men then it would be awesome.

Spot on Crusty, Forest was always one of my favorites to begin with, really enjoying the Redux. It also seems to be a map that supports most roles as well. I do miss the cave though.

Night vision doesn'T even helps due to its limited range.

The new Forest Colony is amazing! I love it. It has cover, yet a lot of open space too. It had destructible trees, huge alien redwoods (try thinking a product of alien enciroment and lack of centuries of logging vs a scale issue), varying terrain heights, etc...

Awesome stuff.

Excellent revision of the map. I second what has been said above. Really feels more like a vast wooded area than the deathmatch arena we had before.

I cannot wait to see revisions of all of the other maps. Pretty please PGI, revise ALL of the old maps!!

snipers still love it they hide with ecm wating for a red dorito. he game imbalances extremely due to ecm distribution amongst the teams.

Forest Colony and River City look real and not cartoonish. I do miss the cave but none the less cudos to PGI.

I have been on this map 3 times as a practice field and about four in the game. It plays different each time.

Definitely a big improvement over the original, both aesthetically and in terms of game play. Kudos PGI.

Yeah that's true. My second battle on the map happened in an entirely different place.

I have to agree totally... The new river city and forest maps are absolutely fantastic! It will be a great day once the time comes when the art director has his way and is able to "redux" all of the maps the way he wants.

I only have a couple of complaints about either of them...

1. Having to listen to the kiddos complain the map is too large and matches take too long... Sorry but this is MechWarrior not a twitch shooter, such as the few un-named failed games. I personally say the bigger the better, and the size adds so much more to the match/strategies available. However, that is only my personal opinion... Now, if we could only get people out of the mind set that the fight must still happen around the deathball otherwise known as the citadel... lol...

2. While I think the day/night cycle is a very cool addition to the game. I think it all happens way too fast, and needs to be slowed down a lot. Even if that means a match doesn't last long enough for the cycle to complete. Again, just my opinion as it just throws it off for me...

3. With the size of the new maps, perhaps it is time to adjust the match time a bit. What I mean is on the Forest Colony map you have 15 minutes right... I saw a few people talking about it being a rush and a few minutes to even group up. They are correct, and by the time that happens you have 10 or so minutes left for the fight. Now, lets be honest for a second here. Most battles when they actually start don't last much longer than a couple of minutes minus the hunting of the last couple of mechs. But, if we had a bit more time on the new maps perhaps it could change and allow for adjustments to strategies. Just my two cents.

Other than that, they get a job well done from me!!!
