All the following mechs were, in a way, pay to win for a certain period of time (from release up to nerf / correction):

Spider
Firestarter
ACH

This might not be PGI's intent, but it seems like they repeatedly released these lights with wonky HitReg or faulty Hitboxes for real live money.

People who purchased them, had an extreme advantage over any others. To me, this is P2W in a F2P game that claims money can't buy better stuff over C-Bills items.

Then, those mechs either get corrected / nerfed or first release for C-Bills and then corrected / nerfed.

For now, this community has shown what's wrong with each mech released (some members even had video and extensive screenshot sequences to illustrate the issue).

I fear that, if releasing more light mechs as OP as these are, for real money... come Steam age there will be a great deal of bad reviews on a supposed to be F2P game.

PGI, have the users test out newly released mechs on a test server.
Hell, select just a few users if you want to, but make sure that the mechs are tested accordingly, because we all know **** happens, but when it happens too often, people get suspicious.

Edit - I pilot light mechs and even bought Firestarters but only when they got corrected. Just a FYI.

He has a point that has been a PGI two-step for years.

They wait for it to be available for C-bill then nerf the hell out of it (Timber, Crow)
OR
(for heros) put it on sale, and then nerf the hell out of it (Dragon Slayer, Muppets)

To the point that it is a running joke that if you buy a mech on sale it will get Nerfinated within the next month.

FlipOver, this is the principle of man y F2P games.

Release a slightly better chassis for real money, nerf it/bring out an even better chassis for real money, repeat.

Infinite profit.

In my opinion despite i cannot agree on all his points some mechs are just paywalled untill it comes out for c-bills.

It does not matter how you see it. This cycle has been going on for years.

Remember how long it took for the JJ-animation fix for the Timerwolf? Despite several 'whine' threads? The defenders of 'Timberwolf is fine!111!!' was absolutely hilarious.

Or what do you think about the Spider? Took-hella-of-a time before their hitboxes got fixed.
If it's untinentional or not, does not matter. It's still a slight advantage for your cash.

I am sure plenty of people disagree with me, but that's how i see things. Sure mechs like EXE or GRH were different. They had to be adjusted to make it viable.

But either way: it takes weeks up to months before anything gets fixed (at) all. And this is the main problem.

Right as you may be (and I'm not doubting it) that sound more like P2W disguised as F2P policy.

As Yokaiko stated, he isn't the only one that stopped buying packs and more will join faster than those who will buy them if this keeps up.

All I want is a great game, and I even defended PGI in past threads where I told people to shoot the legs, but the damage isn't registering as it should, so I just decided to leave a "heads up" to PGI. It might not be their intent, but they are getting the wrong message across to the players.

It is "Pay 4 Impatience".

Imo the spider never was exclusive to MC, that started with the Heavy Metal afaik or the Protector, not sure.

Before that, mechs were just released for mc and cbills.

Furthermore, it hasn't started with the spider, the raven was the first one that was wonky in terms of hit boxes. Andthat wasn't mc exclusive either.

So bad net code isn't pay2win.

It was neither of those, the first hero was the Yen Lo Wang, and there was a P2W firestorm shortly there after because PGI removed the CN9-AH at the same time.

As I recall the heroes went, Yen-Lo, Muppets, Pretty Baddy, Death Knell, X-5, Fang/Flame, Heavy Metal.....don't remember after that.

The HM was the first mech that the Hero was available before the C-bill chassis -733X, they rolled with that for a while before doing the mech pack thing.

I have disproved that any Mech is pay to win. Every one that has been called that did nothing for my W/L or KdR. Well they made those stats drop. Speed is not my friend.

spiders OP? I haven't seen any in months. I doubt a 2 medium laser 12 jumpjet mech or a medium pulse laser 4 machine gun mech is really OP. even sapping 2 SSRM 2's on a locust would be the bane of many spiders... and I know because I got a 2 SSRM 2 locust.

Not a blatant P2W, but in facto you pay real money for a mech which wins because it survives when it shouldn't due to bad hitbox design. It's in everyone faces.

Ok let me follow this...

If team red has X pay to win mech

and

Team blue has the same mech

and if only one team can win

does this mean that X "pay to win" mech can at the very same time in the same match be pay to lose as well as pay to win?

Just wondering because currently you would be hard pressed to find a match without Arctic cheetos on both sides.
