What's in your opinion the best mech for brawling? Elaborate if you wish.

That is a tough one since brawling is practically dead. I'd have to say the CRow.

Crow or ACH. Then FS9, ac20 crab, boom jag, srm timber. After that you've got atlases and some dakka/srm builds.

Define what you consider "brawling" and we'll be able to answer you properly.

I'd throw in an ecm phract because ecm and armor quirks and zeus because armor quirks and good short range punch.

But in the end, under focus fire everything goes down quick.

The fast Zeus, all variants, can brawl very well with its massive missile arm and center energy mounts. The extra ballistic for UAC/5 doesn't hurt if you cut on on the PPCs and LPLS.

I love the Stormcrow, but the Thunderbolt 5SS blows it out of the water for brawling. Great burn time, decent alpha with low heat.

This statement is valid up until the upcoming rebalance.

brawling is dead, in pugs, if you have a balanced team you can get your brawlers into range under a fire base.

other wise you have to be lucky or on a map that seriously favours them or your shot to pieces before you get in range

Its pretty much a snipers game right now.

95 tonners. EXE due to masc agility, and BNC due to gorilla arms of justice.

Also, brawling is limited to games where teams spread out, or when two deathballs collide within 200-300m due to terrain. So maybe 2/3rds of the games I play give me a ~30 second brawl window. This is often enough to kill 3 mechs as an EXE though.

It's not. It just takes more work.

End of last week before my computer crashed we had a great sub 300m brawl on Forest colony where the entirety of both 12 mans were swirling about like crazy people in Conquest attempting to cap Theta.

One of the most fun matches I've ever played.

Only if you are lazy.

Even during the pop-tart apocalypse it was possible to brawl and hence win very easily by playing smartly.

Lights: FS9-A, ACH
Mediums: SCR, CN9, HBK
Heavies: TBR, TDR-5SS
Assaults: BNC-3M, STK-M

Reasoning: hitboxes, energy boating, AC-20s

You can also run 100-ton assaults like the KGC and the DWF in brawler roles but these mechs are far better suited to longer range combat IMO.

I like the Centurion and Hunchback for true, up-close, in-your-face brawling. They may not be the tankiest Mechs out there, but they're quick, have excellent torso twists, and can put out a lot of firepower.

On top of that, they're classics. :)

For Brawling i usually use my fists, elbows and knees, i'm particularly fond of elbow strikes, cut that forehead wide open, brawl usually ends there.
