Not with this CT vs peopel with aim.

That's like saying rolling damage in a big nose mech is useless. It frankly isn't. Sure you cannot simply turn to the side and say "ah ha! you cannot touch my torso!" but twisting sure as hell can spread the damage from lasers, even if the foe is skilled. The same is true for using JJs, it makes it harder for your opponent to keep all of their laser damage in one place. Additionally JJs also let you pop up from behind cover, shoot, and fall back to safety if you take advantage of terrain.

On a side note, Nova is mostly a support mech, and should only be on the attack if it has at least another mech with it attacking.

Otherwise it falls apart... I've had experience with them before.

But now that we're getting a Nova with a missile arm I can equip streak 12 and have a good amount of lasers to eat those lights easier...

It is usually a support mech, but it isn't with this build. I have no troubles soloing enemies in a 1v1 fight, so no, I do not necessarily need another mech with me. I do, however, try to stick with the group anyway so as to avoid ambushes, I'd even go so far as to say no mech outside of the speedy lights should be attacking by themselves; if you aren't careful one mech may end up being 3.

with the current laser vomit the nova can pretty much go down in a single alpha pretty easily.

Gotta roll that damage and use that cover, as with any mech. If they're vomiting from a decent range then their burn duration should be long enough for you to spread the damage and weave into cover. I don't often find I go down from one alpha if I'm playing smart, especially not from beam weapons.

Good build. Done this build long time ago. And had heaps of fun. I build my mechs either meta. Non meta and joker builds. One thing I find ppl still doing alot. Is depending on quirks. Understandable that they are still active and in use. But I've been practicing just building mechs without relying on quirks. For eg. If a Mech has a selected weapon quirk I'd mount a weapon that's different. And so on and so on. I still perform well and ppl criticize my builds for not utilising the quirks. But. I'm all for preparing for the de-quirkening.
Any way I'm rambling. But. Good build jack. :-)

the nova excels at hit-and-run from awkward angles, unlike the stormcrow it can jump over obstacles and slam people with huge laser damage from over 400m away

just like the hunchback, theyre a complete pain in the ass for assault mechs.
