Overall I like the Mauler. 90 ton assault that has good hardpoints and quirks. My only quibble with it is how easy it is to CT it. Its just as big as an Atlas, Banshee, or Highlander, and dies pretty fast.

Only 2 variants got +15 side torso quirk. That was a mistake imo, all of the variants should have gotten it. So please Russ/PGI, if your listening, +10 CT armor and +15 side torso quirk to the ones that dont have it, and you got yourself an A+ from me for the new battlemech.

Yes. And no.

Those variants are "XL friendly" (friendliER at least). You shouldnt mix that with a CT buff.

But the other variants need a CT buff. Its like an Awesome that can have ammo explosions. I dont own one. Im only going off of my fighting them over the past few days, but year. Huge CT. Easy to core.

Just another 10 armor isnt huge, and doesnt change anything usually, but sometimes could be the difference between dead and alive.

If you're getting ct to often try a faster engine so you take more spash to the sides. 10 buff would be nice but you're talking 1-2 lasers I'm not sure if you would see this helping. I took out the battle master with the crazy armor quirks on everything and it didnt seam to help much compared to the others.

It really doesnt help much on the assaults.

Basically it makes it so stepping out into a single LRM salvo "doesnt really count". You can troll some people in who look at your paper doll and think "Im chrome, hes damaged, I can win this!" when in reality you still out armor them by a few points.

But it really doesnt make a difference. Assaults are so easy to pick the right spot to shoot, and alphas so high, than an extra 15-20 points of armor doesnt make any difference. You were getting your torso spots nuked in 2 hits before, you still are now.

Its more psychological. And has its rare occasion of usefulness.

Is this really a mech problem, or pilots forgetting that you need to torso twist in non-Stalker assaults?

I ask not out of sarcasm, but curiosity, after killing a bunch of MALs so far that seem to just sit and stare, never twitching in any direction...then promptly complain about their CT right after they get cored to death.

I run BNCs and BLRs often, and even though the twist isn't spectacular on BLRs, you still do it, and it keeps you alive.

it already has more hitpoints then a 90 tons should have.
it's 90 tons, if someone wants the armor of a 100 ton mech, he/she should pilot said 100 ton mech instead.

They have to, to keep AC hitting you. Gauss gives you a bit more time to twist. But after 2 shots it looks like their cooldowns become irregular, and to keep up DPS they have to stare.

If they look away they arent firing as fast as their recycles.

Well if the 95 tonners, and 100 tonners, have armor buffs....

Then the 90 tonner...

Since the 85 tonner has the armor of a 95 tonner, a 90 tonner with the armor of a 90 tonner is....

If the torso isn't set up for surviving a staring contest, then why run it with a DPS build, over a bursty, high-alpha build?

Also alot of the people who spend the most money on this game, are some of its worst pilots. Not because theyre not good, but because they dont try. Theyre here for the giggles.

If youre one of the people who demands total facewreckage to get your rocks off, youll always perceive them as bad.

This happens everytime a new mech comes out. You see a huge amount of them in puglandia, and most of them are bad. Theres a combination of inexperience, 'Whales', and lack of mastered mechs.

So because people want to run bad builds, they should get mech buffs?

I'm confused...

dunno, i've seen a dual 20s mauler who rolled incoming damage like a boss.

If people want to run "stare down" build and refuse to at least twist once on a while, because "imba have do deliver dem mad dmg", the already forfeit every right to complain about armorvalues in my opinion.

Maulers have speed and torsotwist, it's not a direwolf.

If you're trying to hold a defensive posistion move your legs sideways to the target as much as you can. You goal is to walk left /right of the target so when he is returning fire he has to move his mouse. In most cases this will cause damage to spread.

When brawling try not to walk in a straight line towards the mech your attacking. Walk at an angle towards but away from the other mech.

Pffft. Really? They were clearly just in my way.

Our Atlas never even showed up before he was dead in the spawn. Our ACH ran out, disco'd and died after shooting once.

After that, if you had reason to be between my Wubshee and its victim, it was your own fault bro.

Bad Builds ? It has only Ballistics (and a couple of Lasers max. 6 on one Chassis). It just Shows how bad Ballistics are compared to Lasers.

Or pick BLR-2C which has more HP than an Atlas :D
