With River and Forest droping 75% of the time, this even is going to be so fun.

That's funny.... I've gotten a drop on every map EXCEPT RIver City... I was just gonna post and see if it was accidentally left out of rotation.

I hope they will delete my strike. Because i left the game after I was dead. I was playing after the rules and got a strike. Not nice.

But knowing that I am not alone, and that some staff of PGI is allready looking at the problem makes me feel better.

@Odanan
I noticed that as well.
Be great to see what work has been done on the map.

Re the event.
Great to see this sort of thing happening and those are some fairly hefty rewards.
Will be looking forward to catching up with some mates tonight and enjoying the regular Friday night mech stomp!

The rules for the disconnects are straight forward guys. Make sure you read them properly.
Disconnecting on purpose before match end is poor form anyway, even if dead.
Support your team mates and check out how you went at the end.

To gun for the prizes is quite stressful. Remember to just enjoy the games, play it like you normally would and be pleased to get a bonus should you qualify.
There are a good 5 days for this event. Just enjoy yourselves.

@Alex
The standard map list in the tournament does appear to be missing the Frozen City map/s.
Alpine peaks is not on there either.
Have these maps been taken out of rotation?
Or is it actually 12 maps we should be seeing in the list?
Getting a score of 300 left alone 400 across 12 maps will be difficult if that is the case, not only for the random selection. 5 days may be a little short.

Wait until the match is over to DC, prior to it after death is poor form? Try to sit through a heavy queue while leveling once in awhile bud.

Let alone a whole five days of people leveling mechs and doing normal games to interfere with this arbitrary counter.

No kidding. Dropping a match when we were blown up was the way some of us actually managed to score the 50-to-80-or-more damn points needed for some of those early challenges, thanks much.

Although...400 points in a single public drop game, when you do not have the ability to select which maps you want to include or exclude in your game selection quere...seems a little steep...especially if it takes you all day to get the ONE MAP LEFT that you need, you screw up, and then you're back to shooting into the dark ALL DAY until you get it...

Really seems like a lose-lose situation if you're not at the right level to score those 400 points in every single game you drop.

Update: I'm not sure this "disconnect" rule is working properly. I've only left matches after I was blown up...and yet I'm being assessed penalties for "disconnecting..."

That and what if your internet service provider is terrible, or unstable, or the servers crap out and you disconnect frequently? Does one get disqualified over technical difficulties?

Normally I don't find 300 that hard a score to achieve, and I see plenty of others with that or more, but this event is certainly doing the usual gameplay-altering.

2 qualifiers so far, and more than a few almosts...when everyone suddenly starts playing super selfish to try and get that score, it hurts everyone's score. Wins and assists are a large part of the equation, but when no one is trying to win, and everyone's going for straight kills and damage over assists, they're causing whole teams to miss out on higher scores with that behavior.

Maybe it's just my tier, but seeing a lot of games with only 1-2 players, including both sides, with qualifying scores. Was all gung-ho about trying to at least get a tier 1 package, but maybe I'll take the weekend off after tonight...not so fun.

One other concern is server load. It seems like during these events, a lot of players, including myself, start to experience glitches due to lag, and sudden FPS spikes. If this happens just during events and weekends that promote high server traffic, how will these same servers hold up for Steam release? Just something to consider.

Either way, thanks for the event, I'm sure some people with far more patience, time and skill than I will get some prizes out of it.

@Mocosloco
Did I come across as sounding new to MWO?
Don't assume I haven't, queue wait times and all that.

Quiting the battle before it's completion and you may miss out on some extraordinary moments of play from the rest of your team.
Witnessing your team pull a match back and win it is just as much part of the game as your own personal effort while your mech is still operational.
Imagine it was the other way around and you were the last survivor and managed to win the match for your team.... but they have all disconnected.
If your team is getting rolled it will be over in a minute or two anyway.

Up to you, but rushing around desperately trying to get into matches as fast as possible is only going to frustrate you.
Enjoy each battle for what it is.

50x2 I know where you are coming from but this event dropped while I was in the middle of leveling my Jagermechs....I'm not down for watching any extra action...either I drop and dominate or I die like the pathetic freebirth Jagermech pilot that I am.

ALL the maps?

LOL. No.

The amount of play time required is ridiculous.

Man so far not liking this event in the slightest. With everyone running High Alpha builds its really really hard to get the assists and damage in to generate the points. And since almost no one I have played with so far has been sporting LRMS using things like a TAG or NARC are kinda worthless as well as spotting for other mechs. Cant generate the points if your teammates dont use your data.

The concept is nice and I suppose with the revamp of the point system the 300 and 400 match scores sound reasonable, but not so much in practice. Doing just damage you can get close, but you have to get at least 1 kill 8 assist and 400+ points of damage and those are on the winning teams. These are the numbers from the last few matches that I have PUGed on.
I usually get 1 kill 10+ assists and 250-350 damage and I am anywhere from 60 points to 3 points under the minimum. Is very frustrating to say the least.

Kinda wonder why we are even bothering with events like these. Would much rather do the community warfare goals that they have been posting. Those at least seem more attainable.

Ok this disco thing is a good idea if the game tracks it right, I have one disco and I have not broken any of the rules on any of the matches i have played so far. At this rate i will be disqualified from the entire event with out doing anything wrong.

After hearing that people are getting penalized for disconnecting after death I checked my page, and sure enough, I have two penalties for disconnections even though I have not yet disconnected before dying and I haven't had any connection issues to the servers that would cause something weird like that either. Going to be really miffed if I get disqualified from the event because of buggy code halfway through.

I think the problem is being caused by people quitting the MOMENT they explode. I'm assuming the game doesn't track a death until the "you have been destroyed" screen shows up.

But now I'm terrified to quit a match after I blow up at this point for fear of losing all of my efforts. :(

OH, COME ON! I was assessed 3 penalties and I only quit twice AFTER I blew up! Well, there goes my leadership qualification! That's crap!

Suddenly realized I've got 5 disconnects at my "event page". Never thought that disconnect after death is something unlawful. I just don't want to wait while 5 med/hvy enemy mechs catching our last Locust. So I got disqualified from Leaderboard and T2 Prize Pack.
But the rules say "disconnecting from a match prior to its conclusion [...] if you have not already been destroyed".

So I'm kinda confused - my race is over? Or it will be fixed?

I never do it such way but I am disqualified. So do not leave the game until it ends. May be it's better to wait till the server kick you automatically.

haha

As I said earlier in this thread we will be keeping an eye on how the disconnects play out.
The intention was to deter people purposely dropping out of matches and leaving their team a man down.
We will update the rules tomorrow if necessary.

Also the map rotation was weighted evenly for the public Queue for this event.

the points needed on regular and CW matches seem reversed. why do CW games have a lower point requirement? 4 mechs make that a gimmie but most ppl will have a tough time cracking 400 in pug games

Some of us are hesitant now to even continue with this event...
