I like the fact that this thread never considers that there are many that bought the entire package for the rewards/benefits.

It's like saying people should not complain about most of the contents of Clan Pack Wave 2 when the Mist Lynx, Gargoyle, and Ice Ferret were terrible mechs on their initial release.

Overall, nobody who purchased the pack has a right to say that "The Black Knight is worse than I expected" or anything like that because all evidence suggested that it would be a lowq-quality combat vehicle.

I quite like my Black Knight.

But I also parade around in my Pretty Baby, so I guess my opinion doesn't really count.

It's possible that some day the BK will get improved.

There is no historical data to support that happening before december, when it's out for cbills. IS packs are like the opposite of Clan packs. They come out as absolute **** but sometimes a year later they'll accidentally get quirked up to good.

I spend more time on Sarna than I do playing MWO, I spend more on TT then I spend on MWO. I purely bought the pack because Black Knight is on the List:

Im loving the BK so far, but then all I'm looking for is a fun, modern mech 'simulation'.

I expected the arm hardpoints to be at about the same level as the torso. The image they showed of the BK showed them being on the side and above the arms. What I got instead was a mech that puts the first (and usually only) arm mounted weapon below the arm. This places it below the torso weapons mounts. I did not get what was advertised.

I was hoping PGI would give the BK decent quirks, because it's all energy, way too tall and has no jump jets. Instead it gets awful quirks. Only enough extra structure to tank one clan med pulse laser hit, when it should have gotten at least double the extra structure, plus more torso armor. Only one BK has a measly 10% heat gen quirks with most having cooldown quirks that make them run even hotter.

I never expected the Black Knight to be a very good mech, but I also didn't expect PGI to do things that make it even worse than it should be. Is it too late to ask for a refund? I did not receive the mech PGI advertised.

The few games i've ran the BK has actually treated me quite well.

Yes it's not Marauder...but...it is also no Orion. so *shrug*

So above the orion but less than the Marauder will probably be.

I'm doing well with it, I like it, I'm happy.

I can understand why some don't like it. Mostly to it running hot (trying to use all it's hardpoints effectively (non elited)), no JJs, weird quirks, and low slung weapon mounts.

I'll say this though, it's CT isn't bad running a bigger engine. If you can twist quickly (that the bigger engine affords), you can spread damage pretty evenly. It actually seems tank-y-ish.

Honestly, I think I prefer my Jester instead. Sure it is weak in the CT, but the high mount LLasers, JJs, and 93kph top speed make up for it, but I do like the BK better than my Grasshoppers (so far). I really want to build the fast BK that can carry a 380 engine. Sure it will be a "Swayback" type machine, but I think it could be fun.

Anyway, the BK hasn't disappointed me. It may not usurp a few key other choices, but I enjoy stomping in it.

There is nothing wrong with people having fun driving bad robbits. The issue is that the only robbits available for the IS for the last year's are all bad.

There is not some magical virtue in playing with bad tools. How many comp tier teams play IS exclusively? Oh, yes. Pretty much all Clans.

So you end up with everyone who doesn't care about winning or game balance but just derping around in robbits going IS along with new players and everyone who enjoys winning and competition going Clans, because if you are a bit competitive you don't want to play half gimped by game design.

The solution to which is a is/Clan balance pass that PGI has been aggressively avoiding for 2 years and is now trying to put off as long as possible.

How is that not a broken system?

I just basiced the resistance variant (2 lpl, 3 mpl, 350xl). wasnt so bad. its xl-friendly because everybody cores your ct, always lol!

The real problem is that you have to expose your whole mech (ct) to shoot at somebody. And yes i know about torso twisting.

But its better as the Orion (only exception is the VA-Lrm-Boat) or the Grasshopper.

...and i didnt want the BK but it was/is part of the resistance 2 pack. no chance to avoid it.

Actually I've changed my Res2 pack to a Mauler pre-order. Support was really cool about it. So recognizing that the BK was intentionally designed to be garbage and every reason to suspect the Crab and Wolfhound will be the same I got out from under the rest of the R2 pack, which was a waste of ducats.

Crab will be amazing and it will drink deeply of your salty tears for passing on it! The first tier 1 IS Medium! Make it so PGI!

Tried running as a quad PPC boat, actually worked well, and the map was on caustic with the team losing. I just ran it with stock engine, could improve vastly with the XL355 and more heat sinks, but I don't really want to buy that at the moment.

Also I bought the pack for the mauler, all the extras are a nice bonus.

The BK does not have the problems of the ultra-wide Awesome. I imagine it will get some energy quirks though since DHS 1.4 is a Battle Tech violation disabling most energy builds. However, the Summoner and Shadow Cat continue to languish in their failed states when all PGI has to do is make them a little tougher for the lack of hard points.

At least the BK gets hard points. I look at the Executioner reward mech with 3, count them, 3, hardpoints for a 95 ton mech and wonder how that is a reward, but thanks for the thought I guess. I never bought an Executioner because of the fixed equipment/ no Endo issue with PGI's balancing of Clan Mechlab. I learned not to be burned by the Summoner curse, the Summoner which is still not fixed and seems likely to never be fixed.
