Laptop key concepts have manifested in some current modern keyboards.

F-Lock key? What manner of sorcery is this? My keyboards have no such button...

Most laptop keyboards have a FN (Function) key near the Windows button that allows alternate functions to be activated such as mute, volume up/down etc. The laptops I've had require that FN be held to use, some may have a lock.

Some laptop have F7 default to "mute" instead of "F7", requiring "FN" to be held to get the other function. The default behavior of the function keys can be changed in BIOS.

It sounds like Fn is something different than F-Lock, though. You have to hold Fn for it to work (I've got an Fn key on my desktop keyboard, strangely).

F-Lock sounds like some strange new key that locks the F-row to either media functions or F-functions with a single press.

Yeah. I've not seen it before. I usually have to go into bios to for that kind of functionality

I got this keyboard: Posted Image

It's for a more natural stance of your hands. The FLOCK key is there pretty much for around. I believe it was on some older keyboards as well.

I am no witch! Drunk man sometimes, shouting weird sentences, perhaps! But no witchcraft. I don't like to be burned by my fellow mechwarrior pilots for witchcraft! :ph34r

I am dying to know: so what's the mystery button?

p.s.: why are we posting keyboards in this thread suddenly? Oh well, adding mine then too

Not every keyboard has it. Sometimes you have to go in BIOS or configure it via driver.

While we're on the subject, though, anybody have any recommendations for a white (or white-biased Black-White two-tone) keyboard? Only requirements are white or orange backlighting and not being a PoS. I'm trying to match all of my gaming stuffs.

I also felt being made fun of. Besides the fact that not every new player will be able to reach full speed in the locked-up starting area, it is again myself, who is supposed to fix program shortcomings.
Bind keys to test again, still doesn't work reliably...

BTW it is entirely possible to earn the driving course gold level in the stock Thunderbolt.

Yup. Did it with a second or so to go on the timer in the end.

I've been looking for one some time ago too (mechanical), and I was looking at Keycool, mostly avaible on ebay. It's a chinese manufacturer (I think) with chinese copy of Cherry MX so I cannot say anything about the build quality but it looks quite good and price is reasonable too.

But you can always get a white Ducky keyboard and replace the keycaps with black to have the white/black theme but Ducky keyboards don't look as cool imho unless you're a fan of the oldschool look.

Or maybe this one with white led backlit on black, original Cherry MX tough they mostly use heavier switches like green and gray (never tried, but blue is really light and green is considered heavier tactile blue).

Unless you were looking for a rubber dome, than there should be much easier selection, but you already have something like that so I suppose you want mechanical of course, would not recommend anything else anyway.

I thought I would check out the new tutorial, but I literally failed on the first test (driving around the enclosed parking lot).

Please excuse me if this comes off as rude, but to me there`s something inherently hilarious about someone that`s been here since Closed Beta not being able to get his mech out of the parking lot.....

Kinda reminds me of this... :D

Mission was "Select Unmapped key" to do something, which apparently I have never needed or done in history of the game since it was unmapped.

Of course without completing that simple task (which apparently is something that cannot be done any other way), I was unable to progress.

Guess I don't get my participation award, or mech, or million c-bills, or whatever you get for completing the mechwarrior academy.

Did it give you a massive YOU FAILED message?
Did you get dropped?
Did the Instructor rip you a new one?
If all of these answers are No, then Basic Training it isn't.

Oh, it`s Basic all right... the training part is debateable, however

I had to map the center legs to torso and center torso to legs buttons to proceed through the academy. I never use nor need those buttons in matches because I know how to orient myself without them.

There is an alpha strike bug in that Challenge.

Check for known problems and post anything new in:

Thanks,
