So I used to have an atlas and I had the same experience as most atlas pilots of getting blown to bits in 5 seconds. I think that the problem does not lie in not having enough guns( although that is a BIG problem) but the atlas holding together like a crumbly pie crust. I want my atlas to be able to go through hell and back! An idea I've had for helping old atlas is to give it a buff in which damage would spread all over an area. what i mean is if you shot at the torso the damage would be spread out all over the mech, meaning no easy pinpoint damage. this would be especially powerful in the side torso's so that the majority of that damage would go into the arms.
I would also want it so that the ballistic slot can't be dismantled without completely destroying the side torso.

Ignoring how horrid the PTS was, and ignoring infotech, PGI did kinda show that they are at least vaguely aware of the fact that the Atlas needs to be tougher. The AS7-D's durability quirks were beyond ridiculous, but the RS and S felt like a step in the right direction. The K's were pushing it, but I think it would have been worth a shot.
Hopefully, after this rebalancing the Atlas will have proper structure and armor quirks. Then again, someone behind this actually thought the Shadow Cat deserved negative quirks, so I wouldn't get my hopes too high.

The Atlas I don't feel was ever meant to dish out extreme DPS, but rather be the true walking tank.
What they need to do is boost its armor by a good portion, and its structure by a sizable portion.
Make it able to survive the TTK type of world we live in now. It would be nice again to have a little fear that poking your head around the corner might reveal the teams Atlas.
I miss those days.
Also, the ECM Atlas needs another pair of E HP's IMO. AC20 is lost too easily, so some backup weapons would help.

I think they are alright, certainly better than Victors*. Biggest thing is to not skimp on engine (use STD350) and be in motion. It takes some punishment to kill especially if you twist alot. Fast Atlas is best Atlas. Oh....and pick a not ECM one as people tend to not box you in as bad.
*They might be better now haven't run those in awhile.

Unfortunately, as long as there is pinpoint aiming of multiple weapons simultaneously, this problem will always exist.

raise armor to 850 OR give him ACH survivalibility.
