I can't help but note: nowhere does it state 'successful test-fire' of the Arrow IV'.
For all we know they fired the missile, it missed the target and cooked off the mech's internals in the process.

According to Tech Manual, Arrow IV artillery was rediscovered by CC in 3044. So it should be available in-game at this point in the timeline.

The Arrow IV is a stand-alone, missile based, artillery system, designed to augment conventional systems such as the Long Tom and the Sniper. It was first introduced by the Terran Hegemony in 2600 and became a staple of the Star League Defense Force.[1] When the technology to create Arrow IVs was lost during the Star League's collapse, it was recovered by Capellan Confederation engineers in 3044 working off of surviving examples and the Helm Memory Core.
Arrow IV launchers can be equipped with standard area saturation missile or homing missiles which work in concert with a forward unit carrying Target Acquisition Gear. The Clan version is lighter, and can also deliver a FASCAM (Field Artillery Scatterable Mines) round.

Not suprising since the Cappies were always a defense based nation and artillery makes for a decent defensive technology. I'll shudder when they start whipping out the Thunder FASCAMs but thankfully that's 3051sh

I like this particular note:

"...which work in concert with a forward unit carrying Target Acquisition Gear."

So it is possible that we will have spotting for artillery as a part of the game. ^_^

P.S: It's nice to finally have a news flash about us.

Works fairly well in MWLL, so long as the team is communicating. I've seen many a 'Mech stand up on a cliff and wait for the spotting laser, then send two Arrows arcing through the sky. Good stuff.

Seems contradictory. I still think this may mean vehicles, or possibly leader ability (artillery from outside of map).

The only problem is that the Cappies are so secretive and scheming that they wouldn't mention something like this...

It's a trap!

One of the 3050 variant of the Catapult - the CPLT-C3 - was retrofitted with Arrow IV launchers.

The description can be found here: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Catapult

A disturbing development to say the least. Going to make life a bit harder for the units facing the Capellans.
