If you read the forums, you would think that map voting was horrible and alot of ppl miss the crappy (subjective term here) maps like the therra therma or bog or alpine or forest colony, thanks to the vocal minority.

SOME People complaining that de dust 1 and de dust 2 are the most popular CS maps and nobody wants to play the other maps in CS? Well, that means MOST people love it in comparison to the other maps.

I googled "Define popular": liked or admired by many people or by a particular person or group//intended for or suited to the taste, understanding, or means of the general public rather than specialists or intellectuals.

If certain maps are loved or hated by a majority of players, then PGI should take heed and find out why in order to build more maps to cater to the wants of their populace. Look at the hard data. Which maps get the most/least votes. Not the amount of whine threads that go "waaaaaa, i want my Therra therma and Bog and Forest Colony!!!!" cause if you do, you end up thinking that crappy maps are in demand.

Whine all you want whiners, but the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Voting: Working as intended. Majority gets what they want. All the time. Yay to be one of the majority! Boy am i glad i won't see the crappy maps that the whinority group loves so much anymore.

That said, PGI has to find a way to cater to the needs of the few as well. As we can see, some people really love the maps and game modes that the majority hate. While the majority gets happier because they can keep playing what they want, the minority group will never be able to play the maps that they like.

Kind of reminds me of a guy named Stalin ?
or do you think star trek was real?

If on assault take their base or defend yours.

If on skirmish ignore the idiots claiming you are suiciding. They can report you all they want and if PGI bans you you have lost nothing valuable because they are to stupid to be entertained by your presence anymore and deserve the hell they create.

@ OP

You can now get what you want after the weighted was implemented. Also, the map selection is more random now (which is good) due to people try to game the system.

The one you described was map voting before the weighted system.

Hey guys remember when we could choose which game modes we wanted to play? Good times, good times....

If the voting system was limited to maps only, it wouldnt be a bad idea, but including game modes was really dumb...

Remember before you could choose which mode you wanted to play. Then at the bequest of players we were given the ability to choose the mode we wanted.

Then without asking it was taken away.

Which is crap. But Russ did it before the Steam crowd arrived (where are they?) so they wouldn't know any better.

Underhanded crap.

As for the maps, I wouldn't mind if like other games I could use the queue times to change my load out to match the map. Some games even have preset load outs, imagine that! If I could use the countdown to select a hot or cool loadout or even change mechs wouldn't that be something (that every other shooter already has).

In short, underhanded change not asked for by the players tat solved no problems and is just a band aid for a missing feature that shouldn't be a feature because it is standard in all comparable games.

GG close PGI.

This has been asked for by the player base in at least 20 threads over the years. Bad PGI for trying to get Beta stuff cleared before n influx of new players.

More of this I hate pgi because they won't do it my way, BS.

again I ask why you here Bra?

It was a rough start, but the multipliers seem to have evened out the lack of variety in games, and wait times are definitely much lower. I'd call it a success, and you a bit too bitter.

Most maps I'm okay with and don't have a preference, so I just store up my high multiplier to make sure Alpine doesn't win primarily (although I'm ok with it in Conquest only), and Terra Therma secondarily.

That said, the real problem isn't the voting, it's that you can game the voting system by seeing other peoples' votes in real time. That feature needs to go bye bye and make it so you only see voting % at the end of the voting round.

Voting is good IMO. I've played every map at least once in recent days. None of the "stuck on Terra 8 games in a row" nonsense that used to happen. It probably does need the voting levels hidden to avoid "mini gaming" (Though I quite enjoy that)

I'd say the player base has been very gracious too. I'd expected the conquest haters to rage quit on starting each game, but I haven't seen this happen once.

I'd be happy if folks could only change their vote 1-2 times, but it is kinda funny how we now get more random drops based on selfish human behavior that lets PGI off the hook.
