I had been watching a video and I started up MWO, once the client started up, all sound disappeared. When I closed it again, the sound was back. Anyone having similar problems?

in MWO go to settings and change it from full screen to full window, that should fix the problem

That did not help, this is a sound issue, not a video issue. I have no idea what caused this problem, as it started before I started the tutorial.

fair enough, the reason I suggested it was that it had caused out of game audio to cut out for me in the past.

another suggestion, ingame go to settings, audio, and try different playback modes, select the mode then save, before trying the next, I have no idea if that will help but it is worth trying

You might check your sound settings in windows and whatever app you are using to view the videos. There is a setting which allows an app to grab exclusive control of the sound card in windows and apps which do this sometimes have a setting determining whether it will. Try without that, and try without having the video going, just as a troubleshooting step. Obviously you want eventually to have both working. I know I like sometimes to play MWO with VLC in the background blaring music, which works fine.

You should also go ahead and run the MWO repair tool. Check the settings for that tool and be sure to unselect the option that wipes your profile and settings. Just do the file check and the part that wipes cache, shaders, etc. In this state the repair tool will not do anything harmful. It only makes sure all the files are as they should be, present, the right versions, and not corrupted (it does this by using checksums on the file). It's never a bad idea - I tend to do it periodically as a preventative measure as well as after every patch and anytime I see something funky going down.
