Dear PGI,

On behalf of almost literally everyone playing CW I have an important request.

LET US SEE AND EDIT OUR MECHS!

Currently in the lobby (jumpship), when getting ready to drop into a match we are forced...to twiddle our thumbs and watch a ticking clock.

Having just come from a CW match (Liao versus Davion), I've rejoined to start a new attack. The defender queue is completely full and waiting, we just need to attack! Attack, attack!

Buuuuuuut... In order to edit mechs we have to leave the queue. This then leads to players dropping out to take a break. Our attack queue shrinks...and shrinks... and shrinks... And it all begins with 3 people going "Gimme a moment, I need to change my loadout."

Sometimes it takes hours to get a match going... only for "I need to change my loadout."

So, when can we change our loadout without having to jettison an escape pod to never be heard from again?

I would second this as well. What I would wish they would implement first would be a way to see the loadout on the mechs you are choosing just as you can see them in the regular selection screen. A popup or whatever would be fine. It's kind of sad when you go in only to find out you didn't have what you thought you had or the wrong modules.

My workaround, incidentally, is to give mechs a colorful nickname representing the main weapons. Things like "Doctor Gauss," "Pepe Le Pew Pew," "DakkaCrab," etc. But sometimes I forget I had changed my loadout temporarily or moved a module. Everyone I have played with in CW says the same thing - they need to see the loadout when they pick. They end up with a crippled mech or one with the wrong stuff on, to the detriment of the team. I mean they do carry on, stiff upper lip and all that, because they are good, but it's still a disadvantage. My other workaround is any mech I don't have set the way I want, I pull out the engine so it is invalid. I think you can still end up "valid" with no ammo (dunno - I only heard it awhile back), but in any case having even one small laser and nothing else is valid.

Great idea. Gawd knows us BT nerds love to tinker with load outs excessively.

One thing that has been suggested to me to help identify mechs is to colour code their cammo. One of our members does this and it apparently works well for him.

Something like this.
red = hot laser boats
blue = cool dakka
green = missile boats.

what ever works for you that makes sense.

I also agree with the OP premise. If nothing else you can theory craft whilst waiting instead of posting on the forums like I am now.

You should have heard 45 minute discussion about moving 3 armor points from left arm to right torso on our TS yesterday. Glorious.

I will be sorely disappointed if no one recorded that lol

And I'd also like to second the request for the ability to tinker with mechs while waiting. I always set my mechs for CW play after eliting them and give them descriptive names, but I like to tinker in the lab simply as a way to pass the time.

ALL of this. Also let us save multiple dropdecks we can readily switch between :)

Fair point - I hadn't thought about that but you made me remember now. It's sometimes hard for me to remember decks that have worked after I switch things around for a given map or for some other purpose. I'm definitely not alone in that problem. It'd be nice to have a way to save that or at least record it. Last I tried, the screenshot feature doesn't work during the interface, just during matches. I guess a workaround would be to use the windows method.

Being able to edit our mechs AND multiple drop decks during the waits would also be absolutely crucial to us having dynamic drop weights per planet. That in itself is crucial to being able to shuffle mechs so that there's no singular static 'meta'.

Make it happen!

Nice ideas, can this is posted to Feature Suggestions or moved by the Devs? It would definitely save on time between matches... more importantly... it would keep CW queues active.
