...thinking It's Not The Tech...

My merc company is currently IS, and we tend to fight on the Clan Borders. Last night, for fun, we decided to go pick a fight with Davion because...well...because f*** Davion, am I right? Push them outta Steiner space!
Anyway, we got in 3 games. One of which was composed mainly of pugs. The other two had a mix of pugs and a 5-man, and a 6-man.
Every one was a stomp. EPIC stomp. In each case the Davions, rockin' inner sphere mechs, performed WORSE than every CW Clan Pug I have seen for the last 3 weeks.
Just some food for thought. Teamwork remains the god of OP...as it should, in a multiplayer game.
It's not the tech, people.

It's not the mechs. It's not the weapons. It's the population. It's where the elite players are at the moment. And it just so happens that the really elite players, who also drop in groups, tend to be in the big merc units.

So YOU GUYS were the ones behind the Teutonic invasion!
I agree with you it is teamwork. People on both sides often complain of tech, but I never really saw it, to be honest. What I have seen is teamwork winning every time. The side which is more organized and follows orders more closely tends to be the one that wins. Even skill is second to this because I know I have seen situations where an organized team where not everyone is at the same level can still win.
A couple of pretty strong units have recently moved to Inner Sphere from clans. To me that proves the inner sphere mechs are not as dead as complainers were saying, but if the remaining clan players are less organized than those guys are it would explain any current woes IMHO.

I think there are plenty of good Davion players. I know some. Davion, however is a pretty popular faction for new players (it was for me), and often not as organized. I think if people are talking about Davion not being good they are thinking of matches against the resultant PUGs of people who are still learning - or who won't. Case in point, really, are the matches OP was talking about.

When I'm in a 12-man IS team that attacks IS, it's just as much of a stop vs IS-clan fights. The difference is a much juicier damage score & more assists.
It is mostly the pilots' fault - for failing at optimization. A c-LPL works virtually the same on a Dire as it does a cutefox. A LPL on a Raven 3L works COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than it does on a Raven 4X. Yet we see trainwrecks of IS builds all the time. A mix of general IS weapon buffs with mild yet specific quirks would really help the n00bs IMO.

If MWO can't provide enough rewards to encourage elite units to go where they are needed, then contracts must be restricted.
If units had Dragoon ratings, the game would have a way of checking whether all the elite units are trying to take contracts in the same faction, and could limit which mercenary units come into the faction.

*snerk, not even close, dude. We've got decent teamwork, several good pilots, a bunch of average pilots and a LOT of alcohol. But more often that not, if we don't hit someone truly elite, on an even playing field, that's enough.

Also, most enjoyable IS House to fight for IMO....FRR.
Least enjoyable IS House to fight for, Liao (lack of Clan boarder is a large part of this).
and, most enjoyable Clan to fight for IMO....CJF.
Least enjoyable Clan to fight for, CSJ. (The can't hold anything for long after we leave)
