I have seen an annoying increase in people overiding shutdown near death and therefore denying someone a hard won kill. It sucks! Can you severely punish people who do that! Perhaps if the do it they get Zero cash and xp for the match. Sounds logical to me.

Out of about 1000 matches under my belt, I have died perhaps 5 to 10 times due to overheating.
When I´m facing 3+ enemy mechs all by myself (yeah, I _do_ blunder into those situations occasionally) and no way to extract myself before dying I am sometimes presented with just two options.
1) Just stand there and let them beat me to scrap without dong a bloody thing or
2) Hit override and try to get just one more salvo into them before going down.

Usually, I choose the 2nd option and if I die due to overheating that 1 second before they kill me anyway - well, that´s life.

P.s.: Killing Blow is overrated anyway (Killing Blow gives you a whooping 3k C-Bills and 30 XP, vs. Kill-most-damage-dealt gives you 7,500 C-Bills and 80 XP)

I _would_ like for a "suicide" to count as a kill for the enemy team (I _did_ die, after all), so the enemy would get assist and KMDD rewards and perhaps spread the Killing-Blow reward between the entire enemy team (Like a "Enemy-Driven-To-Suicide" reward Posted Image ).

No. If I'm caught in a situation where there's no hope of surviving, you can count on me hitting that override and giving it my all as I get ripped apart. It's not my fault if you can't kill me before I go boom Posted Image

The vast majority of the time I've seen people die from overheating, they've gone down swinging, doing as much damage as they can. Without any way in game to distinguish between people dying in a fight and dying from running away and then overheating themselves to death, punishing people who die from overheating is a bad idea.

@Space Time Meat Vehicle -- I'm respectfully going to have to ask you to mute yourself. If someone is battling the enemy, getting penalized for suicide would be wrong on too many levels. That said, if they start the match by suiciding and having not actually participated in the battle, then they should be penalized. In turn, then I would want PGI to really 'haul off on them', as the saying goes. There is a difference between "Try and Die", and "Gave Up Too Early". <_<

I appreciate your position & have seen this done in a disingenuous way, but I myself run in Override 100% of the time & can attest to the ease with which one can "pop" by either stupidity (getting caught up in things & not paying enough attention, which I do from time to time) or, as is more often the case, going down swinging against uneven odds.

A blanket response would likely be most damaging to those who overheat accidentally or in the thick of things. Besides, they're dead either way, the worst it does is stop someone getting a kill which as other posters have said, is almost entirely meaningless as all it represents is that you got the last shot in. I've done that with a single spray of machine gun coming over a hill to help a team mate, didn't make me think I got the kill or deserved it...

1.
There is nothing 'hard won' about headshotting/core-ing an enemy who has shutdown due to heat. In fact, that is the easiest kill.
It would make more sense to reduce the reward for killing someone who is shut down, the opposite of what you said.

2.
If you can't kill a guy who's already overheating and overriding, you don't deserve the kill.
If a guy can overheat and still escape or beat you, he should get more reward! ..."Persistence Bonus"?

This thread = "Wahh I suck and can't kill overheaters."
