So how are they going to cripple it this time?

Every time a new potential "super op mech" gets announced, what keeps me from buying it is the question of how are they going to cripple it to make it "balanced". Take a look at the direwolf and it's pathetic torso twist range, the Ebon Jaguar with it's overly large ct, add ghost heat to lrm5 post launch to cripple the mad dog, can only charge 2 gauss at a time specifically to nerf direwolf before it even launches.

Well problem...

Direwolf torso range: only pathetic with the B and S hardpoints. Otherwise relatively fine and have arm movement. Another thing is this isn't really a crippling nerf and MANY IS mechs have the same torso twist heavies and assaults...
EBJ has a large CT because of this

and us, not because PGI said so. It's because Alex sticked quite close t o lore and canon and we as the player base wanted that CT. not some flat chested Arctic Wolf imitater.
LRM 5's?... if so... why is the Inner sphere ones also nerfed? Oh yea, people complained many times about the Catapult A1 with 6 LRm 5's... especially after it got quirked (reasonable for LRM 10's, 15's, 20's, srm 2s, 4's, 6's... but not LRM 5's). Oh and this didn't cripple mad dog at all btw... not for LRM boating, not for any of it's other traits, etc.
2 gauss charge at the same time for direwolf? not sure if it was intended for direwolf but this was at the time targeting the troll build for the 3 Gauss cataphract which should quite frankly not exist. It's too trollish and BS-ish as that's 45 damage alpha each time, enough to loose a side torso or a CT if your a medium or light, 2 salvos is 90 damage so there goes a heavy... etc.
This is a nerf the same way ghost heat applies to PPC's, because having 4-5 is a bit insane.

People keep justifying the pathetic torso twist of the direwolf because "you gotta have some drawback for all that firepower", so you know it's coming for the Kodiak. So what's it gonna be this time pgi? Poor hitboxes, a tiny torso twist like the dire? Locked crit slots? Please let me know before buy your crippled shiny new mech.

Kodiak has quite a bit less firepower than Direwolf- especially general missile firepower and (only the KDK-4 competes here in standard variants and that lost A lot of energy and ballistic potential). Kodiak also has higher energy hardpoints and a few other things related to it but lets move on to the kodiak now: which yes, has Jumpjets... on 1 variant with heavily reduced hardpoints.
yes it has masc... on the hero variant with the least hardpoints nad least meta variant out there...
yes, it has lots of energy... on lower wide fragile arms.

Poor torso twist is reasonable as it barely hurts it, if you use the kodiak with it's XL-400 you still turn like a monster... especially the hero. You will still be agile.
Poor hitboxes? that isnt' really a thing after all these changes to hitboxes and finalistion, it's only point of prefference. If you hate the kodiak or say direwolf hitbox that's your problem but others- such as myself, will have no problem with it.
Locked crit slots? nope, it's a battlemech. Only things locked will be gyro, life support, lower arm actuator, upper arm actuator, hands, cockpit, sensors, lower leg actuator, upper arm actuator. etc.
PS: early purchase bonus is compensation for not knowing how it looks like in game and/or performs, don't want to buy it yet? wait than.
Another note is if you really hate it, the direwolfs are a money grab for IRL $$$ to C-bill conversion that's it is rediculous. These mechs each cost slightly above 20,000,000 c-bills. 3 kodiaks is 60,000,000 c-bills worth of mech sold for 30,000,000 for 20 dollars? that's quite cheap. You also can keep most of those equipment and sale the XL-400's you will never use so you save a lot of equipment but get a bit less C-bills... but you see the picture more or less.

I can already see the qq when the kodiak arrives and has the torso twist of the dire, poor hitboxes, can barely lift itself off the ground with it's jump jets, and no structure quirks so that people will say "man I like the firepower, but it's just too squishy to brawl with it" ala Highlander IIC, Orion IIC, Hunchback IIC.

Highlander and highlander IIC was never a brawler. I got no problem with Orion IIC in any role so far and quite enjoy it. Hunchback IIC has the same problems as normal hunchback but double hunch with all it's benifits and penaulties. I had have very bad games that I still pulled 600 damage in a barely modifide stock Hunchback IIC (2 uac 20, 2 er med las, etc). I got no problems with these especially after hitbox changes.

if it's to squishy to brawl with, use it's advantages than. it's effective range is 360-400 meters where is about double the brawler range, replace SSRM 6 and UAC 20 for gauss and LRM's and it's effective is around 600 meters for the kodiak 1,2,3. Kodiak 4 is already a range mech and kodiak 5 is too. No problemo.

I personally see no problems so far and I am more than happy to pay for the whole package and such. if you are an extremely competetive "meta" person who can't imagine a world without a large pulse laser + er medium laser combo than I pitty you as your ambition for optimisation left your enjoyment in this game stripped and soiled. I am sure many will have fun in the kodiak such as my self. c'mon guys.... so far every mech cried DOA has been far from that- on multiple situations it was actually the most OP mech ever at the time...
Cataphract...
Victor...
Highlander...
Stalker...
timberwolf...
ebon jaguar...
Direwolf...
etc...
and most of the OP mechs cried were just average such as the jenner IIC... Hunchback IIC... Vindecator... etc.
