You the real MVP!

Just got my Pheonix Down achievement, killing a Battlemaster with my Firestarter. This was only the 2nd time I've seen someone play a (P) mech, the 1st time was someone on my own team.

I promise i'll play the SHD-2H more often again, once my Wolfhounds, Crabs, Grasshoppers, Zeus, Warhammers, Marauders and Riflemen are mastered.

In all honesty though: I really liked the ShadowHawks, but there's just too many new mechs and too little time for me to play them. On the other hand I've always wanted to try the SHD-2H(P) with tripple AC/2 after the AC/2 and quirk rebalancing. So maybe i'll fire it up again soon.

I try to play the GRF-1N(P) from time to time. It's the only Griffin that doesn't get those ugly black box SRM launchers. Its textures wrap over the dynamic geo SRM launchers.

I hammered an SHD-2HP with my Jester early on and got that achievement. Til then I had no idea what the Phoenix pack was! Since then I've seen several of the package mechs, and I like the color schemes very much. I'm sort of sorry I missed the pack!

I just got that achievement yesterday afternoon after dropping a Phoenix Griffin. First time I'd ever seen a Phoenix mech in-game, gotta admit I was a bit jealous.

At least the battlemasters and thunderbolts aren't as bad as they were when we got them. Only the shawk was a decent mechanical before quirks, now it is mostly a bit sad

I run all of my (P) variants quite regularly but I mostly play in the Faction tab, so I'm not sure if a kill in there counts towards the achievement. Plus the small fact that I'm on "loan" to Ghost Bear at the minute means they are in maintenance for my return to the Inner Sphere.

The UAC jam reduction on the Shadowhawk makes it a bit of a one trick pony but it can certainly put out the damage, IF you can preserve the shoulder long enough. The Battlemaster plays like a big Thunderbolt with the ML quirks and I tend to throw on an AC10 for punch with the cooldown quirks, the (P)'s aren't the best variants but their not terrible.

You know... this particular achievement is just a sign of PGI's short term thinking about things... at least in 2013!

I'm honestly not very fond of any of the mechs in the package and fully admit that only reason I bought it is because I've always loved the look of the reseen battlemaster, I would probably refund the package if I could but... yeah...

Locust? I just... no
Shadow Hawk? Never played it, wasn't a fan of the design or loadouts. Stripped the (p) and sold the other two like a moron
Thunderbolt? I'm basically a fish out of water in this mech, I have a general idea of how to build them but I can't play them well
Battlemaster? I can't build or play this chassis properly but I've mastered it. I either do average or die instantly in these things, rarely do great

On the other hand, I bought the Resistance 2 Black Knight package when I started playing the game again about a month ago and I'm really happy with that purchase.

Keep wishing they offered similar achievements for other newer packs, ah well. Guess I'll take mine out for a play.

the sad truth is that most of the (P)rison variants are kind of trash compared to the other variants.

In fact the only actually good special cbill bonus variants I can think of off the top of my head are the clan invasion ones due to the omnipod system.

It's been a long time since I've rocked the Phoenix mechs. The Locust is...well... The Shadow Hawk just doesn't get much use from me anymore, The Thunderbolt despite being good, I just never liked it, and the Battlemaster does get some minimal use from me when I want to run my Awesome PPC type setup.

Maybe I might bust out the Shadow Hawks, IDK. The Shad used to be king of the medium mech heap for a while, now it is pretty rare :/. Maybe I'll resurrect the 3 A/C2 build just for some fun *shrug*.

Black Knight ®
Mauler-1R ®
Marauder-3S (S)
Atlas-S (L)

Are all very good special variants, better or as good as the other variants of their chassis.
