Hello,

It is becoming irritatingly common to have an Alt-Tab error when switching windows between MWO and other programs. Please let me know if this is happening to other people. It seems to be an error where MWO is trying to auto-enlarge to full window view when the other program is selected creating an endless loop of flashing screen. Occasionally this is leading to hard freeze and requires reboot.

Please let me know when this is fixed.

Are you running the game in Full Window mode ? If not, try it. That solves a lot of alt-tabbing problems.

Yes it's in full screen, I just alt tab out to check TS. Eventually it locks up.

Just froze hard again...This is starting to be like 1/3 games...

Full Window - this one you should try.

Had the issue before. Found the solution by deactivating AMDs Frame Rate Target Control. No crashes since then.

Win 10 64 bit
Client: DX11, 64 bit
Newest AMD drivers

for me was working perfect till the last patch. since then the game is not able to get out of alt-tab. it will minimize then stay there not beeing able to maximize back. its something with the lat patch.

I also have a lot of ALT-TAB "crashes" in fullscreen mode. I hadn't them with the previous version of the game.

Same here, something since the latest patch or the hotfix.

One other thing that I noticed, I have always pressed alt-enter upon the game loading, if I didn't the graphics and fonts would be wider than they are supposed to be, pressing alt-enter would put vertical black bars on the left and right of the screen and everything would look right. I don't seem to be able to do this anymore. Alt-enter will still toggle between too wide and the correct resolution, but the screen doesn't get the bars on each side like it used to, it is always full-screen.

edit: Also, alt-tabbing started to not work at the same time. Seems like maybe something is wonky with full windowed all of the sudden. No crashes for me yet, but something is different since Tuesday or Thursday (hadn't played since before Tuesday's patch)

Update

I saw someone mention DX11 vs DX 9 in another thread about recent issues. I checked and mine somehow got set to DX11, changing it back to DX 9 put everything back to normal, for me anyway.

It's worth checking if you haven't already, I know that I didn't change anything is DX post patch, perhaps it's being auto selected somehow with the recent patch and hotfix.

In game
Settings > Video > DX version can be set to DX9, DX11 or auto.
