There should be a couple basic colors available for free, then you can pay C-Bills for a one-time paid color, or MC to unlock it permanently for all mechs
There shouldn't be any free patterns, or even any for C-Bills, BUT, you should be able to pay a little MC to unlock a pattern for a single mech, or a lot to unlock it for all.
Cockpit items should be like they are now (a big bank of them you can apply to any mech, and you can only have each one in a single mech at a time)

Or, say, the ability to sell things to other players? (for C-Bills, not MC)
Maybe charge the buyer a couple MC for the transaction, so PGI get their cut...
People would probably pay good money for "exclusive" variants that are just cluttering up garages, maybe you could get a discount XL engine, or some used lasers after they get nerfed and everyone switches back to ACs, or whatever.

Paying C-Bills for a pattern, color, or cockpit item for each mech while paying MC to unlock them for all mechs would be fair.

What I really do like is the idea of selling items such as equipment and mechs for C-bills.

Basic Blue
Basic Red
Basic Orange
Basic Purple
Because all I'm seeing is Basic Green on 90% of 'mechs out there.

What they could to is have some "special offer" weeks every now and then.

You're not being clear, and your poll question is vague. This has been covered several times in the past; It's clear you didn't check the forums before creating a thread.

Yes, but on the other hand, it is a ripoff that PGI charge MC for colours, when we could very easily just select those colours from a colour wheel. The blatant ripoff attitude is repulsive.
Colours should be unlimited select on a wheel, paid for in C-Bills as a one-shot.
Camos, on the other hand, do carry a cost to PGI because each and every camo for each and every mech has to be created by hand by a paid artist. Some people may presume that once they have a type of camo PGI can just copy-paste it to a different chassis; Absolutely not the case.
That, in case anyone is wondering, is why Unlockable camos only apply to one chassis.
There are multiple layers to surfacing the mechs, and a large part of that needs to be re-worked from scratch for each and every camo even on the same mech. Camos are a massive and central part of the artists' work at PGI.
For Cockpit items, each and every item not only requires careful handcrafting and multi-layered surfacing, but also animation! Even more work per item!
Camos and Cockpit items should remain MC-only.
Sidenote: Some camos, particularly on IS mechs, are too low-resolution and could use a makeover. EG: HBK.
With all of this in mind, if MWO became subscription-only then I would gladly pay the monthly flat fee, but I would expect everything in-game to be available for c-bills.

There are. Look at the Basic colors below. They only cost C-Bills.

I would, normally, have no issue with saying 'Colors cost C-Bills for one-shots and MC for universal unlock', except that C-Bills are so easy to come by you'd be rolling in one-shot colors anyway.
On the other hand, I would LOVE to be able to sell back some of the cockpit items that I don't want...even if it's for 10% the store cost (so, 75MC or so).

Oh HELL no. At least not in the traditional 'player economy' kind of way. The only way this would work would be if it made NO difference if a player purchased a mech from the store or from a player. This would mean:
- The buying player paid the same amount as the price in the store.
- The selling player received the same amount as if they sold to the store.
- You would be limited to selling stock loadouts only.
- If you can't sell a mech back to the store (special variants), then you can't sell it to another player.

Yeah, I didn't find those until recently. Ran into them when I was messing with seeing what colors I was going to get with the event, if I made it to the end.
