I think an effectively used lance or two of mixed Urbanmechs and Hunchbacks could hold a dense cityscape very easily, and since the devs have spoken about adding dense cityscapes to MW:O, I'd love to see the Urbie added.

I for one intend to put a bigger engine in one, give it an LB-X AC, paint it blue and name it "Municipal Waste".

You know what I see when I see an Urbanmech I see a big walking trash can. I fight the urge to walk up to it in my Atlas and step on its foot to see if its top pops open.

I won't personaly use it but i think it has just as much of right to be in the game as any other mech. More if you look at the canon.

- It's commonly available since it's being made all over the place and it's cheap.
- Put it in the mechlab and it's capable of the same things as any light mech.
- It's one of the very few light mechs with ballistic weapons available in 3049. You'd be surprised to know that there is only 5-6 Inner Sphere light mechs with ballistic weaponry in this timeline.
And yes i even counted MG's and mechs with only a single variant with ballistic weapons in that count.

But to be honest i would rather they put the Firestarter or the Jackrabbit in the game. The Jackrabbit was mothballed, but the Firestarter is commonly available and has a lot of variants.

Make it so that if you are so bad that all your mechs are busted and in the repair bay or locked in games you can continue to drop into matches with the urby for free lol.

Maybe the matchmaker could give Urbz 2/3 the weight of other mechs of similar size/tonnage when assigning teams?

To clarify, I mean that perhaps an Urbanmech could count for only 2/3s of a less trashy(doyouseewhatididthere) mech, opening the possibility of having one team being larger than another team due to it including several Urbanmechs. I think that would be boss.

id use the Urbanmech as a base defender in standard capture the base scenarios and also as flank control on the sides of my teams deployment areas. Especially if we have tonnage or a BV like limitation on putting teams together. it has good fire power for its size/weight/class.

leave it stock and you have a good base defender for little weight or cost that can drop most other light mechs in a few hits.
Drop the AC down in size a type or two and then upgrades its speed and you have a very nice Suburbanmech that can snipe or scout hunt.
once clan/starLeague tech comes out you can go the other way and upgrade to a Gauss and put more armor on it and have one scary *** light sniper mech.

I had an UM-R60L Urbanmech in the EA MPBT 3025 Beta. That was fun. I remember one match quite vividly. Three Commandos and I dropped into a battle against a Jenner. I was teased by the Commando jockeys all the way in. Naturally, they outraced my Urbanmech into battle and their jeers became cries for help and condemnations because the Jenner was ripping them apart one by one while my Urbanmech trudged forward at the speed of a stunned snail.

By that time, The Jenner had only me left to deal with and the Urbie's speed wasn't going to matter that much. He was fairly pristine, too. I don't remember any red on his schematic. I thought it was all over as he came in range. He was evading my AC fire like it was nothing. One shot, two shots, three shots, four shots and then BAM! I hit the Center Torso and cored the Jenner.

*tries to shake his head free of the nostalgia* Yeah. I'll pilot an Urbanmech now and then.

make it real money only, 10$ in pink, 15$ rainbow colored. call it "pay 2 lose".
i´d probably even buy one with the 80$ founders cash tbh.

it would be my weekend mech i´d play after coming home late & drunken.
my k/d ratio would certainly take a hit, but whatever - from time to time it should be ok to play a game just to have some fun.

if it´s too outrageous and infuriating for some players that they may be in a team with an urbie (lol@!) give it an own "league" / matchmaking. urbies only. weekly urbie tournament, tiny map 24 players last man standing. the winner gets a hat. for his urbie.

best regards

p.s. the devs have much more important things to focus on right now, but maybe down the line in half a year when the vanity item guys look for some new ideas

I love the soda can and I would play it, just for the fun of playing it. I would even pay real money for it! (Dev's hint :) )

I'd buy it and have loads of fun with it. As others have said, sometimes you play just for fun. If we get the Urbanmech, I'm going to beg and plead with My team to get everyone to buy one, and (if possible) have a closed, ELPMC-only, Urbi-only match!

Just imagine: A 16 v 16 match, OF NOTHING BUT URBANMECHS!

edit: I think I read we'd get 16 v16, don't know for sure though....

The stock Urbie has a weapon that can eliminate head armor (9 points) and possibly crit a cockpit (one more point) with one shot, though it can't quite head-chop. For that reason alone, it represents a legitimate threat to any 'Mech that encounters one and has to be treated as such.

To say nothing of being able to bash an LRM-20 into the space for the autocannon, or something similar.

I still find it funny people calling urbanmechs pay to lose. thier slow speed is really the only bad thing they have, they have armor that most medium mechs dont have, and fire power to drop a light mech. Once clan tech kicks in, give them an xl engine and ferro-fibrous armor, along with an indo-steel Intenral structure and you can have a 5/8/5 (or was it 4/6/4?) Urbanmech with an LB10X and Med laser with 10 double-strength heatsinks.

Nope.

&

"In certain situations.."

It's certainly not a mech I am seriously interested in.. but in the right context (close quarters, urban fighting.. which it was designed for) it could be useful.

If maps come random in all playmodes, i think i wouldnt use it. If not, i would use it for Urban Maps like frozen city. Power down near base, enemy came in an see only a big hydrant, or a pink trashcan. That points at his head... And Kaboooom!

If Pokemons were Battlemechs, Pikatchu would be an Urbie!

I would honestly like the entire 3025TRO to be added. Because even though I most likely wouldn't take an Urbanmech over say... a Javelin or a Firestarter, I wouldn't mind the option. People like options.
