Just curious on what the results will be. I can't see why people really want the little guy so badly. I know the UrbanMech is a big joke that everyone likes to laugh at and all that, But I wonder if all these people who keep saying how bad they need the UrbanMech in the game will actually end up even using it?

Bah! Of course I make a typo on the topics name. Geez.... :P

I'd love to see it thrown into the game... some knucklehead would pilot it against me, and I can just repeatedly snipe him from range with a Gauss Rifle! :P

It should be noted that while most previous mech games focused on natural terrain, the devs have indicated they're looking forward to very urban maps (I recall a comment about how Frozen City, already more urban than most maps of previous games, was not considered an "urban" map). The UrbanMech is, obviously, designed for use in urban environments (who would have thought?). As such, in addition to being the most adorable trash can ever to mount a high grade autocannon, it might also be good.

If we can pick what maps we want to go into, Urbie will be fine. If it's random, then it will randomly get hosed by getting stuck on an open map. And if that happens, well, then you know what will happen to little Urbie....

I do not always want to play to win. Sometimes I want to play for fun. And the Urbanmech is a giant bucket of fun.

Maybe they will add the Urbanmech as an "Easter special".
I keep wanting to say Ubermech for some reason...

I'm going to use the UrbanMech a lot.

Even on the maps without heaps of buildings I still think it will be a decent sniper.

You know those films where the special forces commandos keep dropping like flies but the sweaty overweight guy they enlisted for his computer skills makes it to the end of the movie?

UrbanMech is like that guy. I predict he'll do better than you think he should. Even if that ruins the movie for you.

I've a soft spot for Urbie, much like any BT/MW player.
But versatile it isn't and a scout mech it really isn't.
I would like to see Urbanmech in MWO eventually but there are far more mechs that, imo, should be implemented before the less flexible mechs.
A piranha take on the original Battlemechs would be more pressing for me.
A Shadow Hawk and/or Phoenix Hawk would, for example, have me happily sitting in a med' mech for many games.

But one day...one day...Urbie should have it's day. :)

How about a special (perhaps only limited time, for special silly occasions) in which a team of players in their chosen mechs fight against a never-ending horde of AI urbanmechs? Sort of like a Mechwarrior version of Nazi Zombies.

I think this idea has merit. I hope the devs are listening.

I applaud the OP for making this thread. It is a good way to sift through the often-joking posts of adoration for the Urbanmech and discern a more legitimate assessment of what the real desire level is for this mech to be included in MWO.

Well then I will snipe you right back with my Gauss from my Urbllander. Also I have jump jets to relocate. B)

I think they could pull off the ultimate troll and put urbanmech wreckage in the game but no playable urbanmech lol

but on a serious note, looking at the footage we currently have of the gameplay, the urbanmech looks like it'd get slaughtered in a couple minutes. When pretty much all of the other mechs can outrun you and outgun you then I see the usefulness of the mech rapidly going downhill. An Atlas moves at 54 Km/h an Urbanmech moves at 32.4 Km/h

Unless they start adding other mechs with serious disadvantages.

cause looking at the limited mechlab footage we have, it looks like the urbanmech would have even less room to "play with".

But I'm not saying they wont add it, I'm just saying they should focus on adding more useful designs. (and no where in there did I say that the urbanmech isn't useful, I'm saying that compared to almost every other battlemech its very limited in its usefulness)

Locust is unseen unfortunately so it's another one of those Battlemechs that've been kidnapped by mean and nasty troll that lives under the bridge named 'Leegul Dromuh.'

My only issue with the ability of this poll to provide accurate information is simply that we don't know what level of customization will be possible. It could be that increasing the engine rating to achieve more speed is actually out, in which case I'd bet that pretty much all the people who voted 'sometimes the Urbanmech will be valuable, if it has a decent build' would revote and choose the 'no it's a trashcan' choice. For the info we have though, it's a solid poll.

*edit*

I think the people who love Urbanmechs also love AC2s
