Combat Identification can be a useful tool in CW giving one side a valuable heads-up on what is coming. If you have a scout running about gathering that same information why not relay it to the rest of the team?

Currently CI only works for one side in CW. What I propose is simple:

If your team does not have Combat Identification and you successfully gather targeting information on an enemy 'mech its status on the scoreboard switches from unidentified to its variant until it gets destroyed. When that player redeploys their status resets to unidentified until such time they are identified again.

The same feature should also be migrated across to quick-play, where an enemy 'mechs variant is unidentified until someone successfully gathers targeting information on them.

Very cool idea, though it would be taking away a bit of the potency of unlocking combat identification through the scouting mode. I would suggest something like a decay rate of identification, your scout in the invasion mode targets enemies and gets details which show up on the scoreboard.

After 30 seconds (placeholder number), the scoreboard goes from specific chassis down to general.
EXAMPLE: HBK-4G after 30 seconds becomes just HBK

Another 30 seconds (placeholder number), the scoreboard goes from general chassis to weight class.
EXAMPLE: HBK after 30 more seconds becomes MEDIUM

Very cool idea! Completely sensible and adds an IW mechanic that is meaningful to the game!

No decay needed, this is just how it should be; you identified a mech, now you and your team know what it is.

Add a reward for doing this and we have a winning idea that makes scouting meaningful!

Like the idea! Also like the idea of making scouting a more rewarding role (besides ECM sniping)!
