No pulse or extended range weapons had been rediscovered yet. Ditto for the LBX and Ultra autocannons + Streak SRMs.

The only weapons available in the time line are Small, Medium, and Large Lasers. The bog standard PPC. AC 2/5/10/20. LRM 5/10/15/20, and SRM 2/4/6.

After work today I'll be sending everyone who dropped a CS so far a PM with my notes/thoughts/things I'd like to see tweaked/and possibly even some plot points unique to each character that i'd like to see incorporated.

Yeah, they all came out in the 3030's. All the laser/beam weapons from the DC, the AC's from the FedRats, and missiles from the Leaguers... I once went through Sarna.net doing searches year by year, you find all kinds of goofy neat-o stuff.

I'll accept payment in USD for badgering Gamma until he made a Skype channel, however, given the catastrophic fall of the English Pound as a result of the Brexit, I will no longer be accepting said currency.

My official but still mildly rough character sheet.

Name: Alexander Reis

Date of Birth (Age): 12th of June, 2997 (31)

Call Sign: Longshot

Mech: Warhammer WHM-6L

House/Unit Affiliation: Marik (Free Worlds League)

Physical Appearance: 5’ 10”, years of neglect and oversight have led to poor health and weight gain. While still physically capable Alexander has gained considerable weight since his prime putting him around 230 Lbs. Continuing his trend of neglect Alexander prefers to trim his dark brown hair short keeping maintenance to a minimum, this goes similarly for his facial hair allowing it to grow to little more than stubble. Alexander has one notable physical characteristic in the form of a scar running down the right arm from just below the shoulder to the edge of his elbow with a varying width. The scar was received during an ejector seat malfunction causing part of the cockpit frame to tear into his arm removing a surface layer of skin and fatty tissue.

Background: Alexander served under his father Marcus Reis who lead a support lance for the Smithson’s Chinese Bandits. As his father’s personal Mech Technician learning the finer points of the mercenary way of life and piloting. In his spare time Alexander spent countless hours in simulators refining his piloting skills primarily in long range like his father. At the age of seventeen the Marik Civil War broke out, with his father’s approval and unit connections Alexander was commissioned as a Mechwarrior and assigned a Griffin-1N to utilize his exceptional range combat skills.

The majority of the war went smoothly with swift victories in every conflict slowly building the young man into a true Mechwarrior. That was until the raid on Fuentes where Alexander found himself fighting on the front lines for the first time. The raid had been even more successful than the Smithson’s had hoped with the planets depots in ruins and the garrison either dead or fleeing. Unbeknownst to the Smithson’s the Wolf Dragoons had been sent to reinforce the planet. The order was given for the remaining Smithson’s forces to retreat while Alexander’s lance was to provide rear guard until the evacuation was complete. The Wolf Dragoons scout forces hit hard and fast quickly swarming and overwhelming the rear lines of the Smithson’s forces. Alexander’s lance intervened pulling the attention from the fleeing forces. Alexander suddenly found himself in the midst of a brawl with numerous light mechs surrounding him. Alexander had never fought in this situation and quickly fell prey to panic and fear. Unable to cope with the mounting pressures he lost all sense of control and wildly retaliated firing every chance he got. With lack of experience and looming death Alexander found himself pushing his Griffin’s heat scale well beyond critical until it finally shut down. Frantic and unable to strike back the Griffin was quickly torn to pieces. Faced with no other option Alexander attempted to eject to save his life, unfortunately excessive amounts of damage caused the ejection system to malfunction and launch incorrectly. Instead of flying up and out the ejection seat launched at a slight angle catching the side of his arm on shrapnel but still sending him clear of the rest of the rubble that was once his Griffin.

Alexander was successful recovered by retreating Smithson’s forces and escaped with the majority of their forces. Unwilling to face his father and the rest of his lance Alexander left the unit on the first available jumpship. Unemployed and alone Alexander began a search for a new home, with luck he meet a Mercenary Commander by the name of Abigail Leclerc looking to expand her unit. Alexander signed on and quickly found himself welcomed by his new brothers and sisters in the New Musketeers. After demonstrating his natural talent with long range direct fire weapons Alexander Inheriting a second hand Warhammer WHM-6L.

Alexander flourished with the help and mentorship of the other members of the New Musketeers molding him into an effective and experienced Mechwarrior. Unfortunately under the poor leadership of the New Musketeers Commander Reinhard, Alexander found many of his most trusted friends and role models jump ship. Even with many abandoning the unit and turmoil running rampart throughout the leadership Alexander felt obligated to stay and see the unit till the end. Little did Alexander know that the end might be coming much sooner than he had ever thought.

During the attack on Lahti Alexander once again found himself on the front lines fighting for his life and the lives of his comrades. After the order to charge was given Alexander followed without hesitation finding himself within the midst of the charging pack of mechs. When the Black Warriors sprung their trap Alexander found himself once again swarmed by enemy forces and reminded of the fear and panic of the raid on Fuentes. Although Alexander had gained considerably more experience the instinct to lash out in fear was too great. Once again in a close combat situation Alexander fired wildly at anything that moved and just as it had before on Fuentes he found himself shutdown in the midst of combat. Unlike the Wolf Dragoon’s on Fuentes the Black Warriors ignored Alexander and instead focused on active mechs. The sounds of explosions and screams of agony echoed over the communications as Alexander sat helpless to save anyone even himself. The same time the order to retreat was given Alexanders Warhammer finally cooled enough to finally power back up. With everyone around him dead or dying Alexander made a hasty retreat once again unable to comprehend the horrors that had unfolded.

After the disaster of Lahti and the majority of the remaining unit disbanding Alexander faced an uncomfortable choice. He could flee just as he had done before and hopefully find a new home, but after so many years of service with the men and woman of the New Musketeers it was a difficult decision. Ultimately Alexander decided to stay and help rebuild the unit in the hopes to redeem himself for those he let die that day on Lahti.

Name: Evelyn Marchand
Call sign: Piper
Date of Birth/Age: 29

Birthplace: Defiance VII
Current Mech: HBK-4G Hunchback
House Affiliation: Federated Suns
Military History: Defiance VII was a predominantly mining world, and she got an early start working security for one of the local mining firms. Considered a little sister by most of the security members, she received informal agromech training, and developed an aptitude for piloting. Eventually realizing there was no future for her on Defiance, she bought passage to Galatea where she was picked up for service with the Musketeers.

Relation to the battle: Evelyn has unbearable regret for being late to the battle that wiped out the rest of her command. A faulty ankle actuator caused her to fall behind the formation, and miss the initial ambush. Hearing the chaos and screams of her friends on the ‘net still haunts her, and has caused her to be reactionary and lash out at those around her, especially the remaining techs. She blames “lazy” and “worthless” techs for messing her mech up and preventing her from saving her friends.

Despite her lateness, she still managed to bring down an enemy Cicada with a well placed AC20 round, still burns with anger that she wasn’t able to do more.

Physical Description: 5’6” and spritely. Auburn hair, with a tattoo of a rose behind her left ear. Her slim figure and sunny personality stands in juxtaposition with the behavior and personality of her mech “bulldog”.

Name: Katrina Caroline Swanhild

Call sign: Kati

Age: 29

Mech: Clint (Standard, AC/5, 2 Medium Lasers)

Appearance: 5'07", With Dark Brown hair and Hazel eyes. Above Average Frame, slightly toned in triceps and biceps due to own work on mech every so often. Audacious (After ambush), Low-Key (Before ambush and during times of personal issues)

Background:

Katrina was always a street girl, getting into fights with boys, getting fights into girls. But she earned respect, even with the toughest of children. She lived with her grandparents, for her Father and Mother worked for the Lyran Military. last she remembered of them was when she was 8, and that was it. Since then, she has never remembered or found out, what became of them.

Growing up her grandparents, after witnessing her Aggressive attitude and tactics sought to set her straight.

By sending her to the military at the age of 14.

There, her old attitude was shattered, left with a silent and more respectful, and tolerant, attitude around any and all after 2 years of endless running, routines, and other gruesome tasks that most would succumb to.

After so, she began training first with firearms. When found she could make any broken or otherwise impossible to fix jammed weaponry, she was then redirected to the Mech Academy, where there she spent another 6 years in not only mech training, but in the field of repairing, understanding, and rearming the very mechs she would soon come to pilot.

Her first was a standard commando, which eventually changed into a mass produced Clint.

After graduation of the Academy, she was offered a service of 4 years as a Lyran MechWarrior to patrol her planet's boundaries and armories in exchange for keeping the Clint and leave of service.

Katrina happily accepted, and spends the 4 years patrolling.

However, after the 4 years, Katrina spends 2 years with her family before deciding it would be time to find adventure, money, and action fitting for a MechWarrior.

She then finds the Musketeers, where she enjoys the company of the other fellow MechWarriors and the chain of command.

It isn't until during the ambush does she truly begin to feel angish and anger. When the order was given to charge foward, she did so, however, she had been in the second line, witnessing her fellow friends and MechWarriors pass into the afterlife. had it not been for her mechs speed and her piloting skills of 4 years, she would have succumbed too.

During the retreat, Katrina suffered a dislocated left shoulder and a knee as her cockpit was damaged, and her mechs gyro ruined from the countless autocannon fire that plagued her during the retreat.

Since then, She has never been so angry as she also saw the leaving of some her unit. When They announced their take of leave, she was one of the few to curse them for their cowardness and attempted to persuade them not to leave, to no avail. Katrina called them not cowards for the reasons you think. she called them cowards because she herself could not come to for the fact that she believed it was her fault because she had allowed her personality to not voice her concern during the ambush.

Now she will voice her opinion a majority of the time, and will be backed by her very own Clint.

(Working on a few things but that's a wrap for her!)

Made some progress on a former mercenary liaison with the help of the illustrious Gamma, who sadly had to go sleep, to stick with the deadline, here are my quite basic notes (I'll have something more proper up, when I've conferred with Gamma again tomorrow). Not sure what I'll do with Ibrahim, but I'm happy to let Gamma keep him around if it serves the plot.

So pardon the note format:

Name: Roger Martin Clostermann
Date of Birth (Age): December 7th, 3001 (27)
Call sign: WIP
Current Mech: WVR-6M
House/Unit Affiliation: Federated Suns

Physical Appearance: unremarkable build and average height, youthful features, clean shaven, medium length blonde hair, blue eyes

Open background:
MechWarrior family, means being a MechWarrior is his family trade, he doesn’t enlist for King and Country, just a job
family of average means, beyond the fact that they own a mech, a Wolverine-6M
Father retired following a serious of injuries that while not career ending, impeded his ability to pilot, passed it down to Roger (his oldest son)

attends the War College of Goshen (legacy, father attended)
mercenary liason, 7 years, officer (lieutenant), graduated in 3022 (21 years old)

Enlists with AFFS
assigned as a mercenary liaison to Lexington Combat Group, a well-traveled unit (across the various Successor States) that nonetheless retained strong ties with House Davion
Got along well with the unit, adjusted well to life as a MechWarrior, grew as a pilot
his superior called in some favors and secured his honorable discharge from the AFFS

Eventually Reinhard Leclarc, commander of the New Musketeers contacts Roger’s the unit, has friendly relations with the Lexington Combat Group as a result of his mother being a member of the same graduating class of the Albion Military Academy as the unit commander
Reinhard asks for some help, needs personnel as Musketeers have been hemorrhaging personnel
Roger is recommended and accepts a contract with the Musketeers

alarmed at the state of the New Musketeers, unwilling to back out of a contract, over time kindles a relationship with Reinhard's daughter Sandra, unofficial official knowledge in company (the pair don’t exactly speak of their relationship but neither do they go to any great lengths to hide it), everyone suspects Reinhard knows

Stays with the merc company as things increasingly go from bad to worse, largely as a result of this budding relationship
Served in Sandra Leclarc's lance

During the fateful battle: WIP

Deep Background:
Is secretly a level 100 Wizard.

Name: Jacob Hayes
Callsign: "Haymaker"
Born: 2991 (Age: 36)
Mech: Quickdraw QKD-4G
Description: Height: 5 ft 7", Clean shaven, Very pale white skin due to spending most of his early life in space, Hairstyle/ Colour: Black Buzz cut
Clothing: Generally wears overalls , occasionally wears plain t shirt and jeans.

Bio: Born the middle child to the captain of merchant class jumpship, Jacob spent most of his formative years in his father's crew, shipping everything from food to armaments to the highest bidder throughout the inner sphere. With his older brother set to inherit the ship when his father retired he decided to choose a different career path.

Since he was a child he remembered looking in awe at the machines of war mercenaries chartered them to transport, whenever a merc drop ship was hitching a ride he always sought out the mechwarriors, listened to their stories of battle and admired their mechs, he studied each chassis and even learnt some basic tech work from some of the longer recharge cycles.

After many years of obsessing, his father eventually gave into his wishes and bought him a place at the Blackjack School of Conflict.

After graduating the academy and not wanting to join the LCAF, Jacob made his way to Galatea to try and find a contract with a reputable mercenary company, here he fell on bad times. No one wished to hire a pilot with no mech or combat experience so, he never found any work. Eventually, after a year of searching, he gave up and returned to his family drop ship. It took 3 years for his luck to turn around. In 3015 his ship was chartered to transport the New Musketeers, Jacob hit it off with some of the MechWarrior's in transit and Leclerc hired him on as a reserve pilot for the duration of their next contract, being told to think of it as a trial period.

By the end of the year he had become a full fledged member of the New Musketeers and was even given the use of an old Griffin. He was loyal to the unit and although he had only known her two short years, was devastated when Abigail died.
As the unit began to decline in size and quality under Reinhard's leadership, Jacob became more and more frustrated and disheartened. He didn't want to leave as he owed the Musketeers everything but he couldn't keep watching what it was becoming.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the Ambush Jacobs lance was on rearguard duty, as such was not caught in the initial encirclement. They listened as Reinhard's poor leadership lead to the loss of friends and comrades, their panicked voices on the radios as they tried to escape or eject. For Jacob it was too much, he broke formation to try and break the enemys encirclement himself, to see if he could save anyone. But it was too late, when returned to the dropship he learnt the rest of his lance hadnt made it back and they themselves had been ambushed shortly after he abandoned his position.

Jacob blames himself for those deaths and wishes he'd stayed to fight with them, then they'd all be here, or at least he wouldn't still be here alone.

(Note; Edited NPC Sarah Buckner (Blackjack BJ-1) for Dereke's PC.)

Unit Tactics/TO&E (PreAmbush):

(Note; an * represents a pilot who died during the ambush or from injuries received. The solitary ^ represents the tragic death of a mechwarrior during the brawl that caused the unit to break up)

From their inception the New Musketeers have trained extensively in the heavy cavalry tactics of the Avalon Hussars an ode to the military past of its original founders. Under Abigail LeClerc the unit operated as three independent companies. The first company was a mixed weight unit that's average weight hovered near the medium size, while the second company was predominantly heavy designs. The third company developed around the corps of the defunct Sharpe's Longrifles Mercenary Command and used predominantly house Davion designs.

Following the death of his mother and the loss of several unit veterans to attrition and Rienhard's poor leadership the unit was reorganized though the companies identities were kept roughly intact. After reading reports of the success of the Kell Hounds and Wolf's Dragoons forces during the Third Secession War Rienhard reorganized the unit once again to create an independent command lance which could theoretically be attached to any unit but more often than not took the field at the head of the least disciplined Third Company.

Because I apparently can't make up my mind, I decided to go back to my original character with some minor but fairly important changes (cleared it with G is for Gamma beforehand, so fear not friends).

----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- -----

Presenting Ibrahim Version 2.0:

Name: Ibrahim ibn Hakim ibn Kahlid Odessa
Date of Birth (Age): December 7th, 3001 (27)
Call sign: Yojimbo (tolerates being addressed as "Yoji", refuses to answer to "Jimbo")
Current Mech: GHR-5H
House/Unit Affiliation: Azami (Draconis Combine)

Physical Appearance: Ibrahim is decidedly average in height for an Azami (5’9’’) and has a slight, lean build. He has light olive skin, darkened by a childhood spent on the desert planet of Algedi V, and green-brown eyes. He prefers to keep his black hair short in length and only very rarely does it reach past his shoulders. Favoring a polished appearance, Ibrahim sports a wide full beard with rounded bottom (in the style of Garibaldi), which he takes great pains to maintain even the unit is deployed in the field.

Open background: Descendant from a long line of Azami wanderers, Ibrahim was born on the planet of Algedi V, in the Dieron Military District of the Draconis Combine. His mother was an environmental engineer employed by Cairo Enterprises and his father was a civil servant, working in the diplomatic field as a liaison between the Azami and the Draconis Combine. While close to both his mother and father, the busy careers of both his parents meant that Ibrahim spent most of his adolescence under the watchful eye of his grandfather, Mbaye. The stories of the elderly man, a grizzled veteran of the Third Succession War and MechWarrior of some renown, left their mark on the young man and shaped the course of his life.

Following his compulsory education, Ibrahim attended the Dieron District Gymnasium; to the great dismay of his parents who had hoped that the young man would pursue a more technical and profitable vocation. A motivated student, Ibrahim received high marks from his instructors both in the classroom and during simulator training. However, an accident during a live-fire training exercise almost resulted in his dismissal from the academy and it was only with the support of one of his instructors that Ibrahim was allowed to finish his training.

Nonetheless, despite this black mark on his record, Ibrahim graduated from the Dieron District Gymnasium among the top of his class and was accorded the honor of being one of the few Azami pilots to serve outside of the Arkab Legions in the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery (DCMS). Assigned to the 24th Dieron Regulars, the so-called Collectors of Heads, Ibrahim was trained as a heavy mech pilot. Along with the rest of the unit, Ibrahim participated in the low intensity warfare of the waning years of the Third Succession War and gained particular experience fighting against the military forces of the Federated Suns.

Like most Azami Ibrahim was proud of his service to the Draconis Combine, but he never saw himself as a true “Drac” and throughout his military career he was noted by his commanding officers to be a talented but irreverent pilot. A particular sore spot for Ibrahim was the Bushido warrior code so beloved and espoused by the traditionalist officers of the Draconis Combine.

Eventually, growing weary of the politics of the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery, Ibrahim sought a discharge from the DCMS and accepted a well-paid position as a consultant with Luthian Armor Works. However, despite the many benefits that civilian life offered him, Ibrahim found himself ill at ease, unable to adjust to a new life filled with weekly memos and social drinking. Faced with the ever approaching threat of marriage and a continued halcyon existence, Ibrahim decided to return to what he knew best and took the first steps toward a career as a mercenary. With the help of one of his former commanding officers, Tai-sho Simlin Toshirov, the young Azami pilot was brought into contact with Mercenary Liaison, Precentor Erica Whittcomb and found his way onto the mercenary market in record time.

In a stroke of dubious luck, Ibrahim was hired by Reinhard Leclerc of the New Musketeers soon after. Impressed with Ibrahim’s experience and skill, Leclerc placed the Azami pilot in the lance commanded by his daughter (Sandra Vong-Leclarc), with the privately spoken order that he was to act as a bodyguard of sorts for the rising star of the Musketeers. Without a mech of his own, Ibrahim was provided with a Grasshopper retained by the unit. The fast, close range style of fighting favored by Ibrahim matched well with this heavy mech and he came to be a successful pilot with the New Musketeers.

All good things must come to an end however and the battle at Lahti saw the Musketeers decimated and left Ibrahim with a damaged mech and an even more bruised ego. An increasingly patient man, much to his own surprise, Ibrahim elected to remain with the New Musketeers under their new leadership, feeling that he owed Gustave Carpeaux at least an honest chance to reform the unit.

Deep Background: In his own mind, Ibrahim bears two marks of great shame. The first, his accidental maiming of a classmate during his time at the Dieron District Gymnasium. The second, his failure to keep Sandra Leclarc alive.

Ibrahim received his call sign soon after contracting with the New Musketeers as a result of the friendly teasing of one of the few Draconis Combine pilots assigned to the unit, Takeo Sakuraba, who satirically declared that Sandra was safe as long as she had the “Azami Yojimbo” accompanying her into battle.

(Yojimbo is a Japanese word for bouncer, or bodyguard.)
