Will there be any release of developer APIs and\or media packs for those who want to create content to extend the MWO community?

you might want to put that in the next dev Q&A thread.

They already said multiple times "No" to client side mods and dedicated servers.

Hm, have they mentioned anything to provide in-game item information through APIs? Or maybe character stats, "guild" stats, etc? If you could access metadata about the game using a series of APIs, you could see some really cool community-serving websites pop-up, like killboards and such

Haven't see anything one way or another on that aspect. I do think it would be really cool if they provided that or perhaps a post match killmail similar to EVE so you can post the whole thing to a killboard that can track it. Heck they could easily make post match logs and allow a 3rd party to run a program that sweeps up your daily logs and uses them to update on some killboard website.
Would this hurt the game any way? No way that I can see.
Would it add to the overall community experience? Possibly. Imagine if your unit can show its overall performance by linking to killboards. People can build up reputations that way and others can possibly do a bit of research by browsing those killboards.

The last Dev Blog Q&A (6) said that they were thinking about releasing APIs for fansites, but they weren't sure about it.
"Will Merc Corps be able to save and share configurations which are available to all members of that Merc Corp to access, download, and utilise in the configuration of their Battlemech? –John Clavell
[PAUL] This is not something unique to Merc Corps. We want this ability to share builds with the entire community. This will probably be done through the website with the possibility… yes... POSSIBILITY of a public released API for fan sites. "
