Is Alex Inglesia's Artwork Really The Only Reason We Are Still Here, Spending Money? (Confession Of A Mechpron Addict)

I used to be here and bought everything in the hope that P.G.I would make a game close to what they promised.
I bought more because they were classic Battle Tech, and I justified it by saying I want all the classic's in HBS battle tech.
I remain because its not out yet, and I've invested to damn much on virtual goods here to turn my back on it just yet.
Thing that surprises me most, is that if P.G.I bring out the right mechs for me, Crusader, wasp, stinger, assassin, whitworth etc I'll probably still buy them even though I'm pretty disgusted with what P.G.I are doing with the game.

The only thing that would make my buy more mechs at this point.
1) Rework collision/Physics/Knockdown (Sorry a light should not be able to camp at my feet ramming into my legs and not die)
2) Implement a meaningful heat-scale (use the tabletop as a starting point)
3) Introduce Melee
4) Introduce Hatchet/Axe Man mechs =D

And make no mistake, I think they have a lot of people in their art department working overtime. And I'm sure the programmers are willing and ready....if they got some direction to actually ADD something or Fix Something. But all the modelers, artists, programmers, etc..... can only do what they are directed to do by their bosses.
And it seems that direction is..... definitely not focused in a direction most of us have spent the last 4 years deluding ourselves it might someday turn to.
Yet every time a new (Inner Sphere... for me Clan Mechs are largely meh) Alex Concept piece drops... i start reaching for my wallet.
I'm still here because I'm a Mech Porn Addict.
But actually playing the game any more? MEH.
So that's me. Why are you still here?
If this is the case Bishop, may I suggest you quit shooting up with the "cut" product and start mainlining the good stuff;

Buy the physical models from now on!

Thank you for this. As a big catapult fan and it being the mech that got me into the game I will have to get a real one...well until someone starting building them as radio controlled toys. Sadly I live in a place where 3d printing is a myth still. Dam Nebraska. I'm not in the magical land of Lincoln or Omaha.

I would not really like a TT-based gane where you cannot aim your weapons. I would not like a MW game without a liberal Mechlab (I would pass on a stock-only Mechwarrior game). I really HATE games where it's easy to die from a high-powered shot to the tip of your pinky finger like Armored Core and some other Mech sims - Mechwarrior has damage compartmentalization. Major key feature.
I am around because Mechwarrior gives me stuff that other games don't. It combines sandbox with combat sim. Battletech doesn't do it for the kind of fix I want. Mechwarrior does.
In fact Mechwarrior is not a "substitute" for a turn-based game at all. If you want to relive your innacuracy, contradictory combat memories then either read a book or play a turn-based game. Don't try to ruin my Mechlab and Combat sim fun with your Lore/TT drivel.

Name a studio Mechwarrior release with no Mechlab, Diceroll accuracy, and autocannons that fire bursts of shells that always hit the same component, despite the fact that autocannon range is based on the inherent inaccuracy of burst-fire weapons.
You can't because MW is not directly compatible with TT games and lore.

so, you are saying that they have to always follow the same bad decisions in the past?
I mean hey, MW4 had sized hardpoints, which no previous MW title had.
Adapt or Die, Adept.

Yeah, that's cool. You think everything Not TT that went into every mechwarrioir game is wrong. Who's game is this? Is it yours?
Do you really think a first-person Sim like Mechwarrior would have such a fan base if you could not aim or craft Mechs??

Who in their right mind would "request" a game where a high-powered cannon shell or a laser bolt will deL enough damage to rip through military armor like butter at X meters distance, but deal zero damage at X+1 meters? That is not only anti-sim, but just plain dumb.
Who would "request" a game where your 31st century battle vehicle stands a good chance of missing a stationary target at less than a quarter kilometer away? That's just sad.
Who would "request" a new game in a series that is FAMOUS for allowing customization of your vehicle (a core feature that some people spend more time doing that the raw combat) only to remove that core feature?
Why do you want to ruin a good thing by converting it into something that it isn't?
Hey, while we are at it, let's design the next Ford Mustang as a diesel-electric hybrid with a top speed of 80 mph, a towing package by default, and an extra row of seats so you can fit the while family inside.
My point? MECHWARRIOR is why I am here. I am not here for Alex. I am not here for BattleTech. I am here for Mechwarrior.
