http://www.sarna.net/wiki/JumpShip
It varies by the ship.
The Largest capacity is the Potemkin Class, at 25 drop ships.

No, bids have to do with battle assets and the scope of the theatre. Jump Ships are logistic assets, and would not be considered.

Also Clan Wolf bidded out warships for use in combat early in the invasion, forcing the other Clans to follow suit, considering that IS had no warships to deploy unless Comstar counts. It does not mean they were not use for transporting assets and portable military command bases.

If I'm not mistaken, clans can bring as much as they want to bring, so long as they don't use things they haven't bid into combat.

Usually, during bidding, jumpships and dropships don't come into play unless they plan to fight with them.

Jumpships are usually what happens to be available. I think about one to three docking collars is about the norm for a jumpship, but the usual size of jumpship for any larger force is going to be a Union-C. Smaller jumpships are better for small unit operations like Trials of Position or Refusal.

thanks I was trying to get my thoughts more inline with lore

so if the Clan was to do a long rage assault I was thinking they would start with the maximum load

or maybe a minor campaign

so 1 Jump ship would be the equivalent of "X" amount of Mechs
then the bidding would go down from there for example "Clan wolf bids 3/4 jump ship for this mission"

I think in the books the bidding usually went by stars, galaxies etc. Reason for this being - as previous posters said - that the ships themselves were not used for combat. So that means a clan commandor could - in principle - bid one star only and drop each of the mechs in its own dropship.
