As there seems to be a number of topics adding ideas about FP, as near as I can tell the main thing most people want, is the chance to get into game.

So here's an idea I've been thinking about that I'm sure is wrought with problems but might, maybe provide some relief:

Rather than merging fronts, alliances and so on; PGI sets it up that groups can drop cross-House/cross-Clan.

Now before the responses begin, allow me to clarify with an example:

Group of Pugs #1, all of whom are Steiner, number six in total. They are queued to attack a Jade Falcon planet. Group of Pugs #2 consist of a mix of IS Houses, they join to "help out". The planet being attacked by this group is on the Steiner 'attack lane' defended by the Falcons.

Long series of battles later, G.o.P. #1 and #2 have conquered the planet. Now, as it is a Steiner-oriented advance, unit tag/ownership goes to whatever Steiner Unit has the highest representation like we have in place now. G.o.P #2 does _not_ accrue any credit towards unit tag/ownership as they have essentially done Steiner forces a favor by helping out.
In the, admittedly rare event of a complete non-aligned victory, it would become a unclaimed Steiner world.

Now, as incentive, G.o.P. #2 could receive a bonus to Loyalty (as they are representing their faction) or a bonus to Payout (or some combination thereof that is attractive enough to draw in players, but not quite enough to encourage any kind of help farming).

For lore reasons, Clan and IS aligned drops would remain as is. (ie: Clan Wolf couldn't assist Liao in attacking a Davion planet). Although down the road, that could potentially change, depending on PGI's long term goals with House and Clan allegiances. But that's a different issue.

Hopefully you get the basic idea. This would provide a far, far wider range of drop options, possibly encourage factional agreements that are player driven and still give Loyalist units, Merc units and Freelancers a reason to do their thing. A leaderboard option could (maybe?) be added to display who helped but didn't get the Ownership as a kind of bragging rights.

Additionally, this may also allow larger units to assist smaller ones in actually capturing planets for the MC bonuses, while allowing them to still get a little something extra, hence the potential bonuses. Although other options could be devised.

Obviously, this does not address a lot of the mechanical issues facing FP/CW, but this is not the point of the post.

Last but not least, due to glazed-eye-syndrome, I haven't gone through all the material of the round table, so I do not know if something like this was suggested. If it has, let me know and I will see about having this removed.

Good luck, good hunting and always aim for the head.

That was one of the things I suggested.

I just figured it'd be easier and provide more of an incentive to let the allied foreigners tag the planet than alter the tag coding.

If this happens, WE NEED ALLIANCE GROUPING!.. and alliance chat would really help out, too.

Thanks for the link. Definitely an improved and expanded version of my own thoughts.

The option for the shared chat is something desperately needed. Further expansion could be Faction/Merc/Freelancer public and private channels. Though in order to cut down the traffic, have it disabled by default with an easily seen option to enable it. If there is one thing this community based game suffers from, as has so often been observed, it's a lack of in-game community options.
