The Marauder IIc itself was created 2828, but variants only started 3050(60) and thats the time of the first IS Omni Mechs.

If PGI advances the timeline not only the Clans would have the IIC's costomisation but the great houses could get some Omnies on their side.

I really want to know what others think about possible IS Omnies are they valuable or does advancing the timeline of the game screw up some availabilities of Technology i*m not aware of ^^'

Yea careful what you wish for with IS Omni's many of the first ones sucked...and with locked engines many were set up with XL engines....Tell me does the Avatar or Sunder look XL friendly O.o

Mix in some have single Heat sinks
Locked and useless equipment (C3 slave, flamer ect.)

I mean they should be added but the things are not good really..and I dont want to see the return of stupidly over done quirks either.

There is no timeline.

Russ declared (after we all realized it was coming anyway) that MWO is not set at any specific year in Battletech history. They threw it out to sell more gundams and because having an ISN with regular lore-based news reports for immersion was too much of a bother.

Wanna buy a mech pack?

Well adhering a time line with out any PVE or anything to reinforce lore is just silly, specially if trying to sell Clan mechs... IS has ages of them, Clans have very little choices even after a time jump.

And yes, I do want to be a (Clan) Mech pack :P

They could have just done it like this:
"In 2012, the year is 3049. In 2013, the year is 3050. In 2014, the year is 2051. In 2015, we're jumping to 3055. In 2016, it will be 3056."
They could keep a timeline and just jump forward when they needed to sell moar mech packs. Then at least there would be some context to stuff that was going on, and Battletech fans would feel more connected to the game.

What we have now is getting closer and closer to a Star Wars arena game where your Darth Vader character can team up with Qui Gon Jin to fight BB-8, a Droideka and Princess Leia. I mean, that's not even an exaggeration. QP is just random Battletech stuff thrown together without context.

I do agree, I have never been fond of QP's set up. But if PGI were to try to add lore to QP the masses would be pissed off, sadlly...the Lore hounds don't get a a lot of say like you point out.

To adhere to a timeline means to adhere to the factors of that timeline, i.e. weapons, equipment, etc.. Sure, PGI can release mechs from any year they want and just retrofit current equipment into them, but if they advance the timeline to 3060, we're gonna expect the weapons of that age. I personally would love to see new weapons, but I'm guessing PGI is content with the status quo right now, and knows if they stuck to a timeline they'd have to address new weapons. That means balancing and investing time into resources other than making new mechs to sell.

Btw, you wanna buy a mechpack?

Only prolem i have with the Marauder IIC. is that its the 3rd mech in a row now, in which PGI has hidden the ONLY ECM equipped variant behind the 'extra' pay-wall of "Reinforcements".

And yes.. i know i can simply wait for them go on on sale for C-bills.. but thats not the point.... its the 3rd time in a row.. where the one and only variant of a new mech with a piece of equipment they KNOW people will want.. is hidden behind a 2nd tier pay-wall.

Its just starting to make them look greedy in my eyes =T

Hauptman (95 tonner with STD engine), Black Hawk KU (60 ton Nova clone), and the Men Shen (6/9 55 tonner with ECM and MASC) would all do pretty well in mwo if their hit boxes aren't totally crap.

yes, yes they are. IS allways is in an disadvantage compared to clans, but they really suck in copying others. There's a reason why there are so few omis in IS.

well i thought with the XL's is the modular design of omnis allowed the engines to work with one torso less, so with "IS-rules" in IS-Omnis yes that would be really bad.

Also unlike the clans, the IS has thousands and thousands of old mechs and many different factories so without a lot of omnis the part interchangability between different chassis is low enough that omnimechs aren't as big an advantage in terms of resource management. Compare that to the clans where the number of mechs is fewer and their entire society revolves around combat so any small combat advantage can turn the tide for that honorable battle thing.

If they ever introduce IS omnis they are pretty much going to HAVE to create new construction rules for them that are different for the current construction rules for Clan omnis. There's just no way around it.

What a magnificent way to put it.

Hah, well done.

And don't forget that the other team has a Darth Vader as well. And in your next game there will be 3 Luke Skywalkers.

Of course, I feel like this is an accurate description of MWO in general, not just QP. There's literally nothing about FW that puts this game any closer to BT other than the fact that now each side is restricted to a single tech base....but in this context, what does that even matter?

I really don't want any more mechs, I want new weapons systems for the IS.

since MW2 Mercs you allways salvaged enemy mechs and were able to pilot them and or you could just buy whatever mech you wanted.I never felt the restrictions of the factions you were part of. You had full access to the games "itempool" especially when you salvaged a new "never seen" mech there never was a general or scientist who even mentioned you could use the mech for something different than blowing stuff up

Hauptmann is as slow as Dire Wolf and has no endo.

Black Hawk KU has only 17 tons of pod space, 5 locked 1 ton hoverjetsTM, no endo and fixed IS XL engine meaning that you don't need to shoot CT to kill it, just pop one ST and it's dead

Men Shen is a bit better but still what are you going to do with 17 tons and 10 heat sinks?
