Been a good day for me talking to and leading pugs.

I think this is the key. In most games are mostly silent except for rude comments about how worthless everyone is because player x ran off to the fron lines alone and got wiped within 1 to 3 minutes of match start.

I think that MOST (not all, but most) pugs just want a voice and some direction. Doesnt always work but more often it does. and most will listen and follow basic instructions. Call a target, give a direction, you never know....

Gotta love those guys. Had an Atlas on my team the other day who just straight up charged the enemy team all by his lonesome and got focused down in two seconds flat by all 12 of the enemy team. He then called us over VOIP a "bunch of ******* cocksuckers" as if it was somehow our fault.

When I tire of game, I create an alt and stomp around T5 in trial meta-mechs. Where you can play casual, or you can put on you TryHard hat and turn a loss into a win. You are never at the mercy of the matchmaker.

OP, have you tried getting on comms and leading the PUGs?

In most PUG games I play, they are looking for a leader and they tend to follow direction. When communication is good, the matches are normally wins or close.

If you have the superior skills and map tactics, why not share that with your PUG team?

I fondly remember a game on the dessert map months back.

Beta and Charlie lance followed a squirrel into a depression with the majority of the other team were shooting fish in a barrel from on high. My team was doing their best but all chose to just stand their ground in the open. I shouted at them to retreat for good 30sec before tunnel vision cleared and the remaining guys started to shuffle backwards towards my designated grid minus two guys and a lot of armor dmg. The other team abandoned their high ground to follow us and with some flanking direction from me, we turn the table and won a close game.

This was tier 3-4 I believe.

My take is if you've got inexperienced players on the team, you need to step up and mold the rabble into a team yourself even if it means putting down your own leet shooting to command full time. Majority of MWO players WILL listen to advice/instruction from voip. It might not always work but you'll at least feel better about losing if it's a close call.

You know it's your job to escort him, protect him, provide locks, shoot down UAVs, chase off the lights, and lead the push cuz he is too slow. That way he can carry the team. ;)

This is not an exaggeration, this is how completely ****** the MM is.

I already uninstalled the game about a month and a half ago because it was just to frustrating when being Tier-1 means you have to carry so freaking hard with a team of MORONS, that you can't even enjoy the game at all anymore.

I'm seriously going to just uninstall this garbage permanently.

Sick of it.

The MM needs to be fixed, Ranks need to be wiped clean or something..

I think the issue might just be you. 44 matches into season 2 so far, and I have 1.83 WLR in solo-q. Just need to herd the pugs with liberal use of comms, and call out targets and UAVs.

Step 1: Consume alcohol

Step 2: Stop caring about wins and losses

Step 3: Have fun

Alternatively... carry really really REALLY hard.

Yeah... most frustrating thing in mwo... leading the charge as a light because no one else went over the ridge at the specified time...

Most hilarious thing in mwo... the above happens, you don't die instantly, and then entire enemy team chases you as you run away screaming THEY'RE DISTRACTED NOW HELP ME YOU FRACKERS! Your team crests the ridge having realized that if the enemy is shooting at me they aren't gonna get shot and obliterates the enemy team who is too busy chasing the squirrel to notice how fracked they are.

To be fair... it only happens like 1 time in 100 but when it does... well walking that fine line between insanity and stupidity is a damn fine high.

Welp all the church of skill one click pixel chasers cried for a dumbed down arena shooter, so that's what PGI made

Now you're angry that it attracted the sort of players that like dumbed down games.

You reap what you sow.

Not perfect, but at least it's 11 other noobs you know personally.
CW just blows. It's really only worthwhile if you're with a group, and honestly, as a 12-man, I've probably won 95 our of the 100 CW matches I've ever played, and 80 of those were spawn camping stomps. No thanks.

I see reports of things like this and I have to wonder what these people are on about. All I play is QP. I haven't played FW in earnest since Phase 1. Phase 2 and 3 have not made enough interesting changes for me to consider it again. Also have a girlfriend and job now so short but sweet games better suit my lifestyle than long, protracted ones. Anywho, I get into losing slumps sometimes too. It happens to the best of us. But mostly I feel like I win a lot of my matches too. In fact, let's go look at my win/loss ratio....

Ah. 1.07. So I win a little bit more than I lose, but pretty much an even 1. And I'm not running the best 'mechs, or the best builds. I carry sometimes, but not terribly often. I dunno man. I don't know what your problem is, because in this situation I can't even say "git gud" because I don't believe a single 'mech on a team of 12 could so consistently influence the outcome of a match like this. Perhaps you're winning more than you think but just letting the losses bother you and taking the wins for granted so that it feels like you're losing more often than you actually are? What is your KDR? If it's 1 or above I don't really feel like you have that much to complain about.
I play some crap mixed builds if I'm not in a light, and even then I don't go all meta, but I've still got a decent W/L and K/D. It's not winning or personal performance at the heart of OP's, mine, and many others' frustration, it's that one or two mechs has to carry ten scrubs against one or two god players and their ten scrubs. There's no teamwork and little skill in the ques, that goes for group que as well. It's just not worth any more of my time.

I feel you. I took a year off, came back for 3 months, took 3 months off, 1 month on, now gone on another long break. I dove head first in to Planetside 2, where I get to carry 300 other players. Not really, I'm right in the middle of the skill curve, which is great. There's frustrating **** with every online game but at least with Planetside you can play it however you like, when a battle isn't fun you can pick up and head to another battle on the other side of the map, it's constantly going so there's no waiting, and if your faction is absolutely facepalming you can switch to the other team. I'm on the west coast server, hit me up if you give that game a try, I've been on a Liberator gunship binge lately, which is a perfect example of how a 2 or 3 person group can seriously impact a battle of 200.

Oh, and Squad, check that out. It costs real money but it's on private servers so you can fine one without ********, teamwork is critical and actually happens. It's platoon level combat of 36v36 or so broken up in to 3 or 4 squads each side that have to split up but still work together. Pretty incredible. Sadly, that game doesn't handle my 3rd world ping too well.

And here I was thinking you were the more rational of the two of us.

I'm taking a small hiatus myself. Playing lots of Pokemon Go. I'm going out to parks, getting exercise, meeting perfect strangers at all times of the night, getting strange looks from concerned old women. It's really fantastic when Niantic actually does something about their buggy product.

I'll also pop in once in a while and play my Hunchback 4G (F) variant. Yeah I was never good with it, I'm still not, but like Rick says, "suck my **** *************! I don't give a ****!". It's fun in a derp sort of way.

Solo QP is all I ever play and I've yet to experience a serious losing streak. Stay with the deathball and focus on your team mates' target. Win some, lose some. Meh, on to the next one.

Yup, been this way with QP modes for most F2P games, some with MM a bit worse then this (yea, it's possible). Heck, I'm at the point when playing Overwatch that I refuse to play without 4 other friends who might not be the best, but at least know the core strategy of the game. Overwatch is about team composition, and switching it on the fly based on the other team's heros. But many PuG players have the whole "I only play my "main" character!" mentality.

Dunno man, Leaderboards got reset recently (1. August iirc?), and for season two, you got a 1.2 w/l after 101 matches. So 1 win out of every 10-20 games over two months does not only seem like an exaggeration, but also a pretty gross one, tbh. It's more like... you have won more than 1 game for every single game you lost, not for 10-20.

For Season 1 your w/l was even 1.93, which means you almost won 2 games for every single game you lost.

Losing streaks happen, but they don't last for two months. Your stats suggest yours didn't either. It know people (myself included) tend do remember their losses more than their wins because OH MOY GAWD WORST TEAM EVUUUUUR, but speaking from your stats, i can't see how you aren't grossly inflating the amount of losses.

You played 187 games for the last two seasons, which are the last two months iirc. You won 111. That's a tad bit more than 1 win out of every 10 games.

We all have choices we can make...

1. Play Quick Play, try to carry 11 incompetent PUGs, lose most of the time.

2. Play Group Queue, play against the best players in the game, who group together every night, and lose.

See? Your fate is entirely in your hands! Posted Image

It's not always like this of course. But when the MatchMaker notices you've going above 1.1 win/loss, it seems to put you on losing streak to level things out.
